Quotejambay I love reading good news like this Norway is considering giving Finland a mountain as a gift for the 100th anniversary of Finnish independence The arctic summit of the mountain Halti is on the Norwegian side of the border But the mountain will have to apply to join the EU. I believe there's going to be a place free soon...

OK thanks, hadn't seen that. In my mind I was thinking about that thread of humour (some successful, some not, mostly ironic, self-deprecating and silly) that runs through Edith Grove nankering, petrol stations, Downtown Suzie, Dear Doctor, inflatable phalli, "alright Margaret", sailor suit videos, Too Much Blood, onstage corny jokes and the recent "Python" sketch etc.

Quoteglen Going this Saturday, really looking forward to it. Popping into Sticky Fingers afterwards for something to eat and a few beers You'll enjoy it. After I visited I "went down to the Chelsea Drugstore" which is about 5 minutes away. Big disappointment as it is now a McDonalds of course. Didn't go in to find out if they had a cherry red soda though. Sticky Fingers

Quote68to72 Yes I was there, and again in 1990.......... The most memorable thing (apart from the great show) about that mid summers day is that it was unseasonably cold........ That was in direct contrast to the 1990 show which even had Jagger commenting that it was so warm it was like Miami! The full show was recorded I believe, and I would love to see an official release! So

Quotecooheid I was there as well. I remember Keith flapping his arms around himself to keep warm it was so cold. I also have a similar quiz sheet from Leeds. The Leeds audio release was excellent, must have been a good gig. Friends who went seemed to have enjoyed it.

QuoteLeonidP QuoteJumpinJimF QuoteDandelionPowderman Not sure if that's particularly british Maybe not. But I couldn't imagine German or US bands (as much as I love those countries) "generally pissing about" on record in the style of Too Much Blood, Dear Doctor or Far Away Eyes. I like 'em, others may hate 'em - which is what I meant by not always translating.

QuoteKoen QuoteLeonidP Sorry but it's beyond me to fathom how anyone could possibly see that video and then start a thread about mistreatment of Bill. Seems like intentionally wanting to start a controversy about something that was never there, from an incident almost 40 years ago. Completely agree. And it wasn't even an incident. Handbags (in the vernacular)

And here is the article from p5. "A smell of grass hung over the grass". I remember that bit. "An unrecognisable song with but little substance"! Will have to look that up on setlist.fm.

So here goes with the newspaper. First the front page in two parts. Cost me more than £1 though. Stones bigger than Blyth Spartans - wow! (The other news articles are interesting - whatever happened to local journalism in the last 34 years?)

I also have a long review and pics from the Newcastle Journal the next day which I will scan when I get a minute. And a poster somewhere which is too big to scan but maybe I can take a pic.

Found up in my loft last year. Who can answer the questions without cheating (no internet in 1982 of course)? Anyone have memories of this gig? Remember it all being very exciting and I still have a mental picture of it in my head but no particular incidents.

Quoteshattered1978 ...Many bands use "persian" rugs as they look better also after they are sprayed with wood chips from the sticks. Sounds like bitter experience. Great musicians answer thanks.

Great pictures. Even a non musician like me appreciates the detail. Excuse the silly question but is there some story about why he has that carpet? At first I though it was a genuine Persian rug but close up it looks like an - ahem - inexpensive version, like the one I used to have in my living room.

Saw him in Leeds on the UK leg of the tour. Was slightly concerned he might be grumpy but he was obviously really enjoying it. Musically absolutely superb and POTR is a great backing band. Six stars out of five - if you have the chance go and see him.

Have lurked here for a while but signed up for an account to comment on Exhibitionism which I visited with one of my music mad offspring last week. If anyone is still undecided whether to see it in London or elsewhere then I'd urge you to just go. I was worried that it might be too superficial or corporate but it managed to strike a balance that ought to satisfy the Stones geek as much as th
