Actually, what I think happened was that this was a German Web-DL of an American film, and most of the web service subtitles were removed by the uploader, but not all.

The German subtitles aren't all through the film, they just pop up in parts of chapters. I think they were added when the uploader made the .mkv file.

I have a movie that I downloaded as a Web-rip in .mkv format. In parts of the movie, unwanted German subtitles intrude. I tried recommended settings fixes in VLC Media Player, but none of these work. Is there a way to remove these subtitles, either while viewing or permanently?
