Sloppy. IMO one of the worst songs on IORR. Reminds me of some tracks on Bowie Young Americans. Different thant the usual Stones style songs I love Fingerprint file and Time waits for no one. Lyricswise one of the best songs they have ever written.

QuoteGasLightStreet Sounds fine to me. It is what it is. The Virgin reissue sounds great. There's no telling for why it sounds flat etc. It's just what they did. Agree. The Virgin remasters rank among the best among the various releasesof their discography. That's very true for IORR or EOMS.

QuoteHouseBoyKnows Agree on Paris 3 2017. I reported at the time it was "ramshackle fun". Still, I think the best versions were during the later dates of the 1981 tour. HBK Absolutely. I was in FOS and great memories of this version. They were on.

Musically and on stage 1976 isn't their best year.

Who cares. Great cover picture but average album. Some very good songs though such as Hand of fate or Memory motel. Sticky Fingers 50th release birthday is much more significant.

Interesting thread. From what I heard or saw on stage during the last 40 years : Iggy Pop (1988) Nick Cave (1994) David Bowie (1983 and 2002 and 2003) The Pogues (1986 and 1988) Mano Negra (french group with their heydays from 1989 to 1991) The Cramps (1986) Stevie Ray Vaughan (1988) The Lords of the New Church (1984) Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers (1984) Neil Young (2016)

Quotebuffalo7478 Totally agree Mathis. Their last great, daring album, social/political commentary, sex...not sure why Jim Barber was or why is plays what is lasted as .main guitar' on Too Much Blood but Keith throws down some great riffs on most of the rest of the songs. Wanna Hold You, All The Way Down and Must Be Hell are great gems. True story: I moved to Buffalo at the end of 1983

Agree. The nineties and after 2000 versions are rather disappointing to listen to.

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotecimaz Nothing tops the original studio version and the London and Birmingham versions for the 73 european tour.I like the funky bridge by Taylor. Also the introduction on the LA show (10 july) during the 1975 US Tour. The funky bridge by Taylor? Taylor is playing licks off of Keith's funky riff. Thanks. I thought it was more Taylor than Richards on this

QuoteGasLightStreet Quotecimaz The worst Stones album cover ever. Not a good Stones song on it but She was hot. Dirty work seems great compared to it. Definitely the 80s are not artistically their best era before their 89/90 comeback. Jagger and Richards solo works were also not their best production. It's a great album cover, especially considering what the next one was. And! It does ha

I disagree. At least Dirty work has a few good songs such as the title song, One hit to the body, Harlem Shuffle, Had it with you and Sleep tonight. You can make a great EP with these songs.

Their legacy regarding songs will be limited to the first 10 years if you consider that their golden era ended with Exile on main street and to the first 20 years if you think it was with Tattoo you. Blue and lonesome is a good cover release. Too bad it took them so long to record it. Their legacy will rely more on their longevity on stage. Last time I saw them in Paris in 2017 I was really

Boston Orpheum (Pignose records but limited to 100 copies) Wiltern Theater LA Club shows wre really interesting for the setlists on this tour. They deserve an official release like Stripped. If you extend to 2003 NY MSG (18/01) Stockholm Circus Sydney Enmore Theater Tokyo Budokan Munich Cirkus Krone (available as a soundboard)

In 1975 and 1976 the Stones went into some kind of useless Barnum on stage. Even if some shows of this era (NY and LA but not all of them) are still a pleasure to listen to. After The 1973 european Tour you had to wait until the 1978 US tour before they went back to something shorter, raw and essential.

Interesting thread. Agree partly with the analysis. In 1969 and 1972 the US tours went better and better after rather sloppy beginnings. 1973 european tour is a mixed bag with the british shows being very good (London 8 and Birmingham 1st particularly) and the end of the tour among their best ever (Brussels 1st of course). I partly disagree with the LA shows. 9 and 13 July are both great sho

His live album "live it up" (1982) is among the very best of any NY Dolls band members. Only the Heartbreakers "DTK" and "Live at Max's Kansas City" come close.

Always thought that Hampton 1981 has been overrated compared to other performances of the US tour such as Phoenix a few days before. Compared to Hampton Leeds is more punchy. Even if the 1982 european was the very first time I saw the Rolling Stones live it's not my favourite time in the band touring history. Set list was always the same in both tours. Yes it was energetic, professionn
