QuoteRokyfan I agree with you that Gimme Shelter is the Stones'greatest work and the greatest single rock song in history, however subjective that is. The legend is that the guitar work was created by Keith, layer by layer, in the studio as Mick filmed Performance, which included making love to Anita (in the film). The song was Keith's way of letting off steam. Mick must have don

QuoteRocky Dijon Lots of stuff bubbling under on this one. For starters, it wasn't 1979 any more. Ronnie was unable to land a major label in the mid-eighties nd never would have found backing for an arena tour again after The New Barbarians debacle. And I do mean debacle, much as I love the Barbarians, Ronnie and Columbia Records lost a bundle on that tour. The reality post-DIRTY WORK is

when they play it live lately i love the way the guitars weave and build to a crescendo at the end. i think the gig they did at the Hague in 95' i think it was, was the best live version. but the original is a masterpiece. i don't think it can be topped. although they try to top that every time they play it..

QuoteRokyfan People say that because they have done one album of new music in however many years it has been, and because as a live band, the abandon their new music and have become an oldies act. They play one song - Doom and Gloom - so people can't say that the newest thing in their set is 30 years old. Those are facts. (personally, I wish they had kept a lot of the newer stuff in the s

you mean at 72 its not a good enough reason to not make an album. even though they tour all the time, don't you want them to have any life. most rock stars that age are dead or in care homes. its not just there age they done some miles haven't they. Keith's got an album to bring our after this and maybe a winos tour. is that not creative enough for you..

Quotelem motlow QuoteRoll73 There was a concerted effort apparently to keep Woody away from Keith in terms of playing/ touring in the run up to Talk is Cheap (and before that with the Chuck Berry project)- instigated in no small part by Jane Rose. Bill German covers it in his book - and recalls that he asked Keith at the time and he said that if he was going to do a solo project it should really

dont get me wrong i would love a new stones album as much as the next guy. but im not sure if Keith or Mick want to be at close quarters for that long. touring is fine, they arrive separately and they leave separately. there has been a love hate between them for a while now. they seem to be getting on so well lately, maybe leave well alone. going back into the studio might be hard going f

i like listening to keiths 2 albums as much as any stones album since tattoo you. some people talk on here as though Mick wrote most of the good songs. thats a stretch from reality. keith is the musician. i believe im right in saying Ronnie taught Mick how to play guitar some time in the late 70's. Mick is the main lyric writer but surely keith is part, if not mostly the creative force be
