I mean, I'd die to see a mega-Stones lineup (only the afterlife will give me this kind of thought)... to have each and every member of the Stones that was an official member that actually hung around long enough to record an LP or two or three. Chronological listing from 1964 to 1994 of Stones members that participated on an LP and singles ... Mick Jagger - vocals, harmonica, guitars, ke

I've noticed that there is strong opinion concerning the quality of each of the different versions of all the masters of the Rolling Stones' London/Decca/ABKCO catalog, concerning vinyl records and CDs alike. Read this link to find out more: (current as of December 2002) And these issues are further divided by country of origin: some people favor the (former) West German and ea

OK, one more bout: "Suddenly" by Billy Ocean vs. "Hello" by Lionel Richie If "Suddenly" by Billy Ocean sounds similar to Lionel Richie's "Hello" during part of the choruses, as well as during the opening riffs, then I think Richie would've hit back at this criticism with the song "Say You, Say Me" (from the White Nights movie score

For those of you who have compared the backbeat of the Stones' "Too Much Blood" to Michael Jackson's "Thriller," I must also say that same backbeat is copied from Rick James's "Give It To Me Baby." ~Ben

Quotebigmac7895 Dear guitar riff experts... I think I have a three song stolen riff. Was listening to the radio and Tom Petty's Refugee came on and in the chorus, I hear Kiss' main riff throughout Got To Choose. Sample and see if I am right.... then I started playing that riff over and over and it sounds like JJF except the last two notes differs. Again, not a guitar expert so feel f

Could anyone please give out an exhaustive list of all the songs in which the Stones had used actual synthesizers (not Mellotron, organ or electric piano)? What defines a synthesizer? Names like Moog and ARP. Notable synths: *Moog Modular III *Moog Minimoog "D" ("D" is the type that was widely produced; types A to C were prototypes that eventually led up to the "D

The only song I can think of that actually has a mandolin is the 1969 cover version of Robert Johnson's "Love in Vain," courtesy of Ry Cooder. The live versions (Stripped, etc.) don't have it. But the previous year's "Factory Girl" has a mandolin mellotron (you know, a pre-recorded mando tape roll). ~Ben

I wonder if Jody Klein (son of Allen Klein and obviously current head of ABKCO) has hidden away a proper extended version of this song in the ABKCO vaults that is different from the (alleged) Guitar Hero fan-made version? I take this to mean that I also want to know whether or not the official ABKCO-owned version also has a proper ending, like we typically hear in live performances? ~Ben

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteBrianJones1969 How about "Let Me Go" and "Where the Boys Go" from Emotional Rescue? Where are those songs similar? I picked this bit up from some old website that no longer exists. These words were taken from that site owner's review of the Emotional Rescue LP, calling it a "disposable" Stones album in his humble opinion.

Now if this was a fan-made version on the original, then I wonder what the Stones would do to make this version be their next live version? All versions of "Gimme Shelter" from birth (from Nico Zentgraf's website) Take 1: titled "Give Me Some Shelter." Nicky Hopkins on piano, Jimmy Miller on percussion, alternate Mick Jagger lead vocal (2/23-2/25/69) Take 2: As above

How many of you have ever heard of this 8-minute-plus version of "Gimme Shelter"? I think this could've been the LP version rather than the 4:30 version that was finally chosen. Even at that length, it could've been a single release. The song does end, rather than fade out. ~Ben

Having seen all these discussions about "one person that should do this/that" or "one person that shouldn't do this/that" have any one of you ever thought about what bands should or shouldn't reunite? While we're discussing this topic, have any of you checked out the Deluxe edition of their 1979 album Breakfast in America? The album's title was not one considered by Rick Davies, who instead preferred either "Working Title" or "Hello Stranger." Rick also didn't want the song "Breakfast in America" - originally written by Roger Hodgson circa 1968 -

Did the Stones nearly hire Ronnie Wood (instead of Mick Taylor) the year Brian died? A missed phone call may suggest why. Also ... if Brian were still alive and was still in good spirits with the rest of the group, maybe the Stones could've cut a prog-rock album during the 1970s ... I must think that "Might As Well Get Juiced" was a very old song and not recorded until 1997. Tha

On the final version of Let It Bleed, "Sister Morphine" and "Loving Cup" were deleted (they would appear proper on the 1971 album that actually was titled Sticky Fingers on release, and 1972's Exile on Main Street, respectively), and two other songs were merely re-titled. Both of these other two songs, in their pre-production forms, had different lead vocals (Keith Richar

Could the Phil Spector-Lana Clarkson murder case be considered similar to this one? What I mean, is that Lana Clarkson (1962-2003), a B-movie actress whose biggest film role was as the Barbarian Queen, could have been playing with the gun all along and talking of Russian roulette because her career path had ended. Phil Spector, as you all may or may not know, was the man behind the "Wall
