It would be better if all the songs up for the vote were rarely played numbers and half of them not songs that get fairly frequent airings anyway.

No idea . I've always been rubbish at this. It changes on an almost weekly basis. I always find it interesting when folks on these pages say that they haven't listened to such and such an album for years. I tend to spin pretty much everything on a fairly regular basis and it's surprising how often even the older records manage to elicit a new reaction from me with some

QuoteDandelionPowderman Don't let it get to you, VL. I enjoy your posts. However, we are different people on here – some react, others don't. We need your perspective here – especially since most of us are old geezers Ditto that ... ..and consensus be damned . With more consensus there might be more peace in the world ...but this place wouldn't be half so much fu

Quotetreaclefingers Quotedcba Another possibility would be a revamped "Steel Wheels" : it would be a nice tribute to Charlie (the album is a showcase of the drummer's talent). And according to Nico's site there are quite a few outtakes from 1989. Lastly I wouldn't mind hearing a "Montserrat" version of the lovely song "Gangster's Moll". I wou

The White album was a product of the circumstances. The Beatles didn't manage to find a new collective direction towards the end of the sixties in the way that the Stones had. They could still come up with some wonderful music but were losing consistent interest and cohesion ... ...and there was thus a creeping element of "... bugger it, we're the Beatles, we can get awa

Quotesteffiestones Any plans ? With age, health and strength being increasingly important factors, it's no longer feasible to make plans more than a few short months in advance . And, as winos mentioned, there are perhaps other markets ahead in the queue. That said, come the dreadful day when think they have to wind up, you'd imagine they'd want to bow out on home turf.

I don't think Mick can always hold a really objective view of the results. With Exile for example he's probably most thinking about the chaotic process that spawned it...and that he hadn't been in his beloved control of it

Wouldn't have thought you'd need isolated tracks to follow those lines. It's quite an open mix really...especially, for example, when compared to unravelling some of that wonderful mysterious murk on Exile...which is bit like trying to untie the Gordian knot.

Not sure about the exact history but there was certainly some experimentation going on. Silver face Twins with big Dual Showman cabs were in the backline, with both Keith & MT employing them. I like the sound. Doesn't have that throaty roar of the Ampegs but allowed for more subtlety and variance in tone to my ears..

Keith's perfectly capable of playing the intro to GS... ..so long as he keeps it simple and doesn't attempt the fingering that's become more difficult over the years. Keith's adapted his playing very well to allow for the reduced flexibility in some of his digits .... I think the trouble is, that in the heat of battle, he kind of forgets and his instincts sometime

They could very easily slip in RS Blues with no rehearsal whatsoever... and with the whole band delivering a more Chicago spirited version in contrast to the Delta style on the album. But yes...delusional to expect either

Asside from Chanel being "new" , the GS intro maybe needed some thought & attention anyway. Sometimes it's great ..but on other occasions a bit too shambolic...

Is HD crap ? I don't know ...but I like it, so I listen to it. Maybe I like crap ? All I know is that I've been more inclined to keep playing HD than I was with ABB for example when that was released... I don't think HD is perfect by any means.... Personally I could do without some of the catchy "pop" hooks ...but I recognise these to be the very thi

Ridiculous that Leo and his inspired collaborators came up with both the Tele and the Strat 70 and nearly 75 years ago...and that both, with original vintage spec, are still just as usable today as they were back then. I know we guitar players can be a bunch of conservative luddites ...but even so [ almost the greatest thing about Fender guitars for me is that, due to the enlightened constr

It'll be the same set as always with a couple new songs tossed in - FOR NOW - they won't be switching stuff up because it's a LOT OF WORK to do that with a HUGE show - it's all choreographed with the cameras and stuff - i

QuoteMathijs As far as known: From 1975 until 1983 Keith had one Telecaster Custom, a widely known and documented 1975 model he purchased on June 5, 1975 in San Antonio. Played stock until the 1978 tour when the 3-saddle bridge was replaced with a 6-saddle bridge and a new black switch tip, and in 1981 a new Schaller bridge and new gear heads were installed, and a new white switch tip. QuoteMathijs QuoteSpud Yep a '59 by all accounts ....and some joker in the 70s seems to have fitted a silly brass nut . Nope, the original bone nut is still on it. Mathijs Oh...Glad to hear it . I once saw a close up photo with what for all the world looked like a brass nut. Must have been the light or the printing . Maybe it's quite yellowed.
