Sadly this is the least excited I've been for a Stones tour, however abridged. I've seen them numerous times over the years with the Orpheum show in Boston probably the greatest concert I have seen. The energy just isn't there and grading on the curve for age betrays their legacy. What else do they owe us? The set lists are predictable and without imagination. It's really time

Peter's ex-wife-Reine Stewart-lives nearby in a small coastal Maine fishing village. She came into the bar I manage last summer and held court with a series of jaw dropping tales from 60's Los Angeles. Along with her twin sister they were first generation groupies with many notches under their belt; Hendrix, Crosby, Morrison, Keith Moon etc. She was the designated joint roller on Crosby

I like the idea SwayStones. Maybe up the ante using a Survivor style format where members can be voted off the board after a series of death defying, online group challenges. Who would be the dude who extinguishes the torch ala Jeff Probst? Gazza?

78 was great. The Rome bootleg after Humbert 1 became King of Italy, the benefit for the Battle of Shipka Pass veterans, and a killer Brixton show on the night when the Princess Alice collided with the Bywell Castle on the River Thames. I believe Mick said he couldn't imagine "doing this for another 133 years."

I have a fairly extensive collection of RS mags from '71 on and believe the quality began to drop off in the late '90's. It's always been an extension of publisher Jann Wenner(exhibit A:see the 5 star review of Goddess in the Doorway) and his modern tastes are suspect at best. For a great example find the story about rock critic Jim Derogatis who was fired by Wenner after crit

www.youaintnopicasso.com/2010/01/11/the-my-morning-jacket-covers-archive-50-covers-2/ A great American band with a nice musical vocabulary. Loving Cup arguably better than the Phish version(Jim James has a more soulful voice) and check out Move On Up and Still Feeling Blue. All are interesting, enjoy!

It was interesting over New Years when I played a mixed cd of my favorite Stones songs, mostly obscure stuff from the 70's(obscure to casual fans ie Luxury, Winter, 100 Years Ago, Seperately) but the reaction it got was crazy.(in a positive way) The crowd was mostly hipsters geared toward Grizzly Bear, Fleet Foxes, No Age, Bat For Lashes etc but people really hadn't heard this stuff

The last song on John Prines "The Missing Years" has a funny allegory of Jesus partying with the Stones.

So strange as I downloaded "Stuck On You" off their first album this morning and was playing it for a few people at work. Was Rose Tattoo big in the UK or just Australia? Always liked them and Stuck On You sounds like a great lost Faces single, one of the best songs ever in my opinion, a shame for sure that he's gone.

Hmmm....I was expecting a Kanye-esque robot trill. If Macca is using autotune so be it. Still beats the current crop of lip synching drones that constitute popular music.

All of this is completely reprehensible behaviour even by rock star standards. For one he shouldn't be with this Lolita and two he's a serious alcoholic at 62 without the class or sense to keep it reasonably hidden. I think he's got to go and a new guitarist might light a fire under the rest of the band for the new tour. Why not a revolving cast of guitar players? Not an open au

That's the last straw. It's 2009, you can't beat up women anymore and his alcoholism is inexcusable. That rogue gentleman Keith won't stand for it. Mick Taylor your ship has come in.

Assume we've got the ear of the powers that be and decide which elements of the current post modern touring Stones have worked best. I say the internet fan vote and mixed venues to start. Should Ronnie get a song? Is the Keith slot too predictable?

Great story and highly plausible as I know three people who have met Keith in Ct over the years. Atleast you had Ya Yas in the glovebox instead of Shes the Boss.

From all accounts PJ is tearing it up on this tour. The clips I've heard have been fantastic, Vedder seems to have found a balance between tortured soul and the Dude from Lebowski. One of the better live bands ever. 41 freakin' songs? Insane

Wow incredible shit. Popular musics equivalent to the '27 Yankees. The Rock HOF used to create once in a lifetime jams but now it's mostly Bon Jovi jamming with Kip Winger. Thanks Urban Steel

Yeah I was trying to figure which songs he actually plays on. He might not get enough credit for his musical chops but I still prefer his presence solely behind the mic.

This may have been previously discussed in a different thread. How do you feel about Micks guitar playing? Just watched the DVD version of Gimme Shelter and the scene with Ike and Tina, Mick playing a Robert Johnson song, and thought hey, this aint half bad! My uncle had the good fortune of meeting Mick Jagger in the parking lot of Foxborough, Mass (probably Steel Wheels?) and he played a few s
