the Stones got a lot of heat from the feminists for songs like Under My Thumb, Some Girls, and Little T&A. probably why they've been rarely played in the last 20 years but I don't recall any big brouhaha from the bible thumpers for Faraway Eyes when it was released. I always thought it was more making fun of rednecks and country music in general. especially Mick's over-th

I like black and blue. Hand of Fate is a Stones classic. Hot Stuff, Fool to Cry and Memory Motel are good songs, imho.

if we're talking songs here, then "Satisfaction" definitely qualifies in my book as a "heavy" early song. but it is an anomaly in the Stones' early catalog. the Who were more consistently "heavy" with songs like "My Generation", but it is still not what I consider "hard rock" I think: precursors to hard rock: who, kinks hard

what are you all talking about? why should they stop? why would they want to stop? some of you have said you hoped they would have stopped after Licks. huh??? all the recent evidence points to them being pumped up for touring and the new album. they were positively brimming with energy and in fantastic spirits at the PC both on stage and answering questions. didn't appear to me to be ge

I purchased the Red Square dvd this week and I'm rather disappointed. the bonus concert, although highly edited, is ok but the main one really sucks because all the songs are intercut with long boring documentary crap. I wanted to see one long uncut concert. that's certainly what I thought I was buying - there's no way you could tell from the front cover, or even the back for t

IMO, The Man Who Sold the World is Bowie's best album. Followed closely by Ziggy Stardust.

Chuck counts down all the songs. They all look to him for guidance as to when to wrap up a song, etc. etc. Keith used to do all this years ago.

Chuck is the safety net for when Keith just decides to stop playing in mid-song to lean on his mike or do a smiley leg-kick pose or whatever he does these days. Same thing goes for Ronnie, to a large extent (rely on Chuck, that is). Chuck ensures that the songs keep on going and don't fall apart in mid-stream. Hey, I love the old band too, but Keith and Ronnie just can't hack it alon

if they played a "heavier" Under My Thumb, similar to what's seen on Gimme Shelter, I would be in heaven. Hell, all their songs should be played heavier. Even their famous "heavy" songs like Sympathy For the Devil and Gimme Shelter are a joke the way they play them these days.

Dylan, summer '88, Ottawa Civic Centre (opener - The Alarm. that was bad enough!) I was very excited to see him as he was one of my heroes. Dylan went through most of his hits at breakneck speed in an absolutely monotone singing voice, never once acknowledged the audience staring straight ahead into space and staying immobile during the whole concert. He looked as though he'd r
