Loog Oldham in his book describes Mick's singing on this as "hurt, slo-mo" and "quite sexy", so I had to listen - he's right!

Compelled out of my silent lurking to say Oh for goodness sake! Of course it's very disappointing for all who are there. Does anyone really think Mick's just pretending? To accuse the Stones of bleeding their fans dry is verging on the hysterical. They are the bloody Rolling Stones! Isn't every fan in love with them, even, especially as they age? If the love is lost and there'

With reference to comments posted by HMS. The comments are massively unhelpful (to any smoker attempting to stop), greatly lacking in emotional insight and imagination and untrue in essence. Smoking is a very dangerous and highly addictive habit - stopping is very painful and difficult for most to achieve. But it can be done. The body begins to heal itself from the moment the last fag i

Mick has always shown great dignity and restraint throughout his many public trials, of course with the tragedy of L'Wren and also Keith's most disloyal book. I think that is something rare in the world of A-listers (and something DB also shared) and to be admired. If Mick says "I was very upset" about the death of Bowie- this really means something.

Quoteeverwest1 QuoteThe Sicilian The 60's does not wander into the 70's, it's January 1, 1960 to December 31, 1969. What if it is all kind of blurry? I kind of wandered in to the 70s and didn't realize it until about 1974 Ha ha - yes "blurrier" is what I was attempting to say earlier. Yes, technically speaking a decade is measured in those strictly literal

The thing is - the feeling that marks or infuses a decade doesn't end neatly as the clock strikes midnight on 31 December. There can be the "long/short" sixties, the "long/short" seventies. As the sixties took a while to get going musically (say 64/65) and according to some observers that particular momentum fizzled out 69/70 ish, you might call it the "short&quo

QuoteOlly Quotewith sssoul QuoteOllyWhen people talk of this, are they referring to musical styles, or simply image (clothes, hairstyles, hair colours)? They're talking about personas like Ziggy Stardust, Alladin Sane, the Duke, etc, which Bowie explicitly took on. He performed "as" those entities - Ziggy Stardust isn't just the name of a song. He did whole shows as t

That's a very interesting question, Olly. Wish I had an interesting answer! Maybe the answer lies somewhere in this: David had a strong introverted streak and admitted that performing didn't come naturally to him, unlike Mick who has said that he just loved to perform from an early age. David was also very obsessive and rather neurotic, whereas Mick seems to be less interested i

Quotealiceinseattle I'm very confused by the negativity on web sites. Can someone point me to a music fan site where people are mean. Aliceinseattle, I think it happens on all well-established sites from time to time. On the point of "abuse" - I agree with a previous poster than things need to be in perspective. Can it really be called "abuse" if someone offends a

Hmm, this is great. It's fascinating. It's a whole new vocabulary. So if it's Jack on piano - then as you all say it must be a very wet piano, that is, with an extra harpsichordy effect. I can't wait to use these new (new to me) expressions somewhere. I didn't realise they had the technology then to just make a bog standard piano sound like that.

If anyone has detailed knowledge of this I'd be grateful, It's almost a harpsichord but with undertones of a threat, Well, I'm learning a lot about wet and dry. Perhaps my question is too dumb?

I'm not sure about the procedure for Track Talk. I often search for a particular Track Talk thread and want to ask a question or say something about them. But then I see some of them are a couple of years old. Is it ok to post on these? Or do you re-start it? Apologies if I've missed something.

I only post on here because I think I'd get all muddled up if I started on the others, but I read them sometimes. I looked at the new Nanker Phelge one but got muddled immediately especially as at the beginning it was all about factions etc. The Shidobee one seems very "advanced" and I've heard that to be a Shibodee is to have attained the Holy Graildom of Stonesology. Dear dear Stones2000 You should NOT feel bad! God,no-one can be lukewarm about them, can they? It's a passion, a riot in the heart! There might be a long period when you listen to no-one else and have some tracks/albums on repeatedly and you revel in the gorgeousness of it. It's because you have fallen in love. The infatuation phase might lead to a less intense phase. You might

I hardly dare say this because I'm not sure if it's allowed - but Keith always DID have rather protuberant breasts and nipples, as many photos reveal. I always got the impression he liked showing them off.

I've been enjoying all the back and forth about Mick T/Keith/Ronnie but there doesn't seem to be much waxing forth on MJ's contribution to the band. It often comes up that he's controlling/tight/business-minded/cautious etc etc etc. It seems to me that he is strangely underrated in his performance. Strange because, without HIM...... What doesn't get said enough in

Keno says "what's up with MT". It seems IMHO that the inference in his latest post is that MT is unwell, and of course hope he's not. But what else would stop him if he wanted to play and the they wanted him to play? The real reason might be more prosaic - not clouds of bad feeling at all.

I think one advantage of the style was that he could hide his ears. The height on the crown of his head(during the rooster era) allowed wider layers at the side to cleverly disguise the protruding flaps. It was a truly organic style - I don't feel it was by design, but just evolved whenever he passed a mirror with blunt nail scissors in the vicinity. Random bits appear to have been
