Although obviously not a full Stones album, Bill has a great bass solo on Jamming with Edward. Charlie has a drum solo on the same album as well.

"Obviously, in this box, the first three or four albums are kind of fairly deliberately lo-fi. It was almost as if, when they went to record Black and Blue, they'd discovered FM radio, and thought, "We'd better make our record sound nice on the FM!" Because suddenly, from Black and Blue onwards, they sound really quite nice – it's a much cleaner sound. But I wasn

IMO they lost a bit of their magic when Bill left. I miss his wobble. While DJ is obviously talented, it hasn't been the same for me since.

Who knows to the extent this is true or not. I recall seeing footage of Ronnie playing for his new family. Then there are pics of Keith messing around in studios.

I'm not a big Bono or U2 fan, but I did like Jagger's live performance with them of "Stuck in a Moment".

Like them on not, I love the fact that he's working at a faster pace again. "...a few weeks back and wanted to get them out to you straight away. I feel a slight throwback to a time when you could be a bit more free and easy by recording and putting it out there immediately." That alone is great news IMO.

I love this song. The production is great as well. Bill and Charlie shine, as do all of the musicians. Last night I had a rare occassion to drink in excess and smoke a little too. The loud soundtrack to this Party of One was TSMR and assorted singles from the time. What a great era this was for the Stones! I've loved TSMR just as much as any of their other albums. I became hooked on

Nice piano. It sounded like the pianist threw in some licks from the chaotic outro of "On With The Show".

Because of the missing final guitar solo, Wild Horses from Stripped was ruined for me. That guitar solo is integral and it pains e whenever they leave it off.

Over and beyond it, I'd have to pick the one on L.A. Friday as exceptional. As a whole it's way more fluid. But this one has it's moments too. Thank you for posting.

Jagger's ad lib to Tumbling Dice, L.A. Forum 1975 (Who Went to Chruch this Sunday) It's amazing how Jagger ties his intro quip, "Who went to church this Sunday? Billy went to church this Sunday..." to the outro where he sounds like he's singing in tongues.

It's a matter of circumstance. A mid-morning drive with Crosseyed Heart can produce moments of sheer, sweet ecstasy that can never be recreated. And the same with Blue & Lonesome on a Thursday evening in the kitchen with just the perfect amount of beverage consumed. (Now that I've alluded "car" and "kitchen", Feel On Baby is sounding in my ear. Time to list

QuoteTurner68 Quotekleermaker QuoteDandelionPowderman Easy on that pipe, kleerie! The lyrics of Run are so uncool Dandie. For god's sake, who the hell would make KEITH run! No one. Not even Jagger! He is talking about the police (his drug bust the year before) Without Bill's bass it falls flat in my opinion.

Jagger’s “singing” during the ‘75 tour: As far as I’m concerned I happen to love the way he growled, shouted, screamed, slurred, and muttered his way through those shows. He literally sounded like a mad bull that had lost its way. I love the rhythm of the primal sounds brought forth from his throat with such force and power. He stomped all over the carefully crafted and beautiful lyrics and in a

Jagger’s singing is magical for me until he started proper enunciation so you could understand each and every word. I thought their best lyrics were made better by the need to strive to comprehend what he was singing. So any tour until '889 and on pretty much.

Quotekowalski Fact is 'A Bigger Bang' sounds the worst of the 3 studio albums they did after 1994. Very interesting thread. And yes, unfortunately it sounds sterile.

QuoteNaturalust Quotedrewmaster Yes, great article, thanks for posting! "Also, notice how low the vocals sit in the mix." Can you imagine if Mick's vocal had been recorded way-up-front-and-center like on (to use a recent example) "Too Tight"? It would have bloody-well destroyed the track! Drew Excellent point, and imo one of the main reasons so many tracks of modern

Quotematxil I don't know if this video is already posted somewhere else, but in any case, I think it deserves all the attention it could get: Absolutely an emotional bomb, hearing her voice all on its own. Wow, what power and depth and pure heaven. For the rest, about the song, I think it's the best recording they ever did. However, I never heard a good version live, I think

Tomorrow (Saturday) we'll be having an annual wine tasting in our garden. There's little sipping going on here - a lot of gulping of fine wines. Every year there are great participating musicians, educated or not. I'm honored to play along on a few tunes and for tomorrow I've rehearsed two special songs. I'm going to open with Sing This All Together, and follow with

Quote24FPS Let's face it, it's a miracle the Stones came together like they did. Jack Bruce, no fan of the Stones as individual musicians, marveled at how the early Stones quickly had this incredible overall sound. And none of them are that fantastic outside of the tight circle of the Stones. Charlie, like Bill, were amazing because they could adapt to any genre thrown at them. Has t

QuoteHearMeKnockin This is one of the only Stones albums where I can tolerate nearly every song... and the others are the Golden Four and Some Girls. I'd say that's pretty good company! Of course, this album isn't there most creative or exploratory, even if it does go psychedelic in spots. But it's fun to listen to. 100% agree!

QuoteNikkei The strangest thing about the production is the drum sound. But that can be said for a lot of british 60s records. It's all ping pong. Me too. I discovered the Stones in 1970. Absorbing the back catalog was a real treat, playing the albums over and over again until they were a very part of you. Each album was had its own unique perspective and must be listened to on its own
