With regards to the amounts paid: remember, we are talking about 1969 dollars. Multiply everything by 4 for today's equivalent, at least. For example: $750 in 1969 is equivalent to $4,776.03 in 2015.

I rather liked "Highwire" and "Don't Stop" more than a lot of the other post 1983 material, because those two tunes don't sound like the band thought about them too much. They sound like they just came up with them quickly and laid them down quickly. Maybe there's a lesson in there: write and record at a faster rate and the result is greater immediacy.

Undercover is an absolute favorite. All of the stuff recorded at Pathe Marconi (1977-83) was amazing. I fully agree with Kurt Loder's 1983 review of Undercover in Rolling Stone:

I am totally looking forward to the BB King and Ike and Tina sets! That's how the Rolling Stones originally intended the album, and those acts were awesome, which is why the Stones chose them for the tour.

To me, "Ya-Ya's" is the ultimate Stones album, period, live or otherwise.

Thw '69 tour was the first Rock tour where a band toured with it's own sound and lighting crews and equipment. This created a uniformity and consistency between the shows, and raised the bar for the live music industry. It was also the first tour where a band toured with a tour photographer (Ethan Russell), writers (Stanley Booth, Michael Lydon) and filmmakers (Albert and David Maysle

The '69 tour was the absolute peak of their best period (1969-74). That said, they have had a lot of greatness before and since.

The single DVD (Stones' set) approach would likely be the best way to go, for many reasons. Or perhaps a double DVD set at the most (Stones on one, supporting acts, etc. on the other), plus audio CDs of the Stones' and support act's sets issued separately. Either way, it would not detract from "Gimme Shelter", and still enhance the overall documentation of the event. Ti

To my knowledge, you are correct, they have not covered it. However, being influenced by something goes beyond that. I am certain that when Rich and Chris were young they absorbed it, as a lot of us did. I have never covered it in a band, either (I have covered a LOT of Stones songs from that era), however, I have played it. It's a certain vibe and groove that directly correlates to thin

On another notw, I have five Telecasters in my collection tuned to open G. My main standard tuning guitars are my Ampeg Dan Armstrongs, a 1970 original and a 2006 RI:

Right, he plays in in standard at the DD. My point, once again, is that there is open G guitar on the original recording.

Yeah, "Goats Head Soup", "It's Only Rock 'n Roll" and "Black And Blue" are all huge faves of mine. These albums represent when I began really getting into the Stones and seriously playing guitar.

"Goats Heads Soup" is one of my fave Stones albums, and it was the first one I bought the day of it's release in 1973 at the age of 10, something I have done with every Stones release since.
