Quoteandy js Anyone else get invaded by the plastic Irish yesterday ? You know the ones. They're about as Irish as Andy Townsend Yep I agree, it sadly has been invaded, like so many traditional events, by commercialisation and hangers-on. Unfortunately it is also used by a loud minority as an excuse for spouting drunken sectarian bile in certain locations, Glasgow in this part of the worl

It was a pleasure to see author Ian Rankin introducing the Boogie for Stu gig at the Ambassador. Try his novels, which include titles such as Black and Blue, Let it Bleed and Beggars Banquet.

Daltrey interview in next 15 minutes on BBC Radio 4 Front Row. Question posed - Why are you doing Tommy without Pete? According to Daltrey, Townsend has serious hearing problem, nothing new here, but he goes on to say it is not tinitus etc but that he is facing severe problem - significant deafness? Any other theories on his absence?

That was obviously deliberate in order to prevent you from witnessing Blondie playing the solo on 'Sympathy' while standing on his head..... Have you ever noticed t

Quoterocker1 QuoteStonesTod QuoteGazza Quotevudicus QuoteStonesTod Quotevudicus Do people really believe that Blondie or anyone else plays "underground" guitar to compesate for Keith & Ronnie??? It doesn't happen, ever. it does happen - and more than you'd think.... Proof? There is none because it doesn't happen. I use my eyes and my ears at Stones gigs and ther

QuoteLady Jayne If there's another tour - and I believe it's a very big if - my guess is that attendance won't be compulsory. So if you hate the set list, think the ticket price is a rip-off, can't endure Keith's noodling or Mick's lack of range or, horror of horror's, the fact that 70 year old men don't play like 30 years olds, don't go. It's t

Quotestarstar74 No joke. A guy I worked with SUPPOSEDLY knew a guy who allegedly played behind the "curtain" guitar during the VL tour. Apparently, according to this source the Stones use 2 guitarist who literally play behind the stage and out of sight. I call BS, but the guy I worked with swore up and down it was true! What a waste these guys must be wonderfully talented but hidden

QuoteGazza Quotebelld Lounge Tour Wembley with U2 fans en masse next to us - " Don`t believe these pensioners are playing this" Sympathy indeed. Messy altercation followed, Stones honour protected. Good man, Beller. I hope it was messier than the Nou Camp in '72. Franco or Bono indeed, both a trifle too keen with words and dictats.

1982 European Tour. I managed to see 5 concerts and I refer to the 4th of these the 1st night at Wembley Stadium. Travelled by train 5 hours from Scotland on the day of the gig and consumed a decent level of booze at the bar and in the dining car. Mad dash to get over to Wembley, pitch tickets as usual and weaved politely thru the huge crowd. We had a measure of cannabis probably the size of a c

QuoteGreen Lady 9 pm GMT, Tuesday March 1st, BBC4 - a programme about the Arthur Haynes Show. I'd guess that this will be mostly about Arthur Haynes' comedy (funny but very old-fashioned), but the Stones' guest appearance (one of their earliest on TV) is mentioned in the blurb, so we might get (1) another showing of all or part of their appearance or (2) a bit of background histor

Quotemuenke Back in 2003 i was completely "off" at the stones concert in leipzig, together with a few friends and my girlfriend. In the break between AC/DC and the Stones I propose marriage to her (me definately incompetent, not ver romantic for sure, but my kind of style) and believe it or not she said "yes". We are still - mostly - happy married and have two kids ... So you

Quotejamesfdouglas How is it a double standard if money-paying audience members get drunk or stoned at a show vs the money-paid musicians??? Excuse me sir just trying to inject a little humour/fun. Never mind I might find a little more relaxed atmosphere on Cliff Richards fans website!!!

I have read a great deal over the years commenting on band members behaviour in this respect, obviously targetted mostly at Keith and Ronnie. Lets not be accused of double standards, how pissed and/or stoned have you been at a Stones gig?

Yes Andy I also really enjoyed Tod Rungren and was very happy to see LS in their prime. In my humble opinion they were very impressive, connected really well to such a huge audience with then fairly primitive equipment and certainly roused the majority of the crowd but the Stones did it for me and surpassed them. As for 10cc stuck between 2 great bands! I thought they were bloody awful but each t

Quoteteleblaster I had remembered it as a Bowmore, but that seems unlikely as it currently retails at over £2,000 a bottle. I have subsequently tasted a black whisky. It looks like treacle and tastes like.........whisky! No major discernible difference in taste, as I remember (it's all in the eye). I do remember the drams were a ridiculous price so it is possible it was from Bowmore. What
