Likewise Filip! I visited Amsterdam a few years ago and The Netherlands obviously love the Stones!

Quoteloog droog Quotepunkfloyd And just as some bakground I am a lifelong Stones fan and Exile and Sticky Fingers are tied for my #1 albums. Maybe I had unrealistically high hopes for this. And how long has that life been? I am turning 40 this year and was introduced to Mick and the boys by older brothers in 1980. I was to young to see them in Dallas in 1981. Had to wait until 1989. OK

Right. Wait till it hits YouTube or something. Taylor interview was OK. Could have been better...another wasted opportunity. Didn't reveal anthing new (to me). OH WAIT...I FORGOT ONE OTHER B.S. INTERVIEW Will.i.am from Black Eyed Peas was raving about how he would walk around with Exile vinyl in his backpack as a kid. HE WAS BORN IN 1975!!!!!! Am I supposed to beleve a budding hip-hop a

Just watched the entire disc...bonus materials and all...and all I can say is what a wasted opportunity. On some of those classic albums in review DVDs they go over each track and break down the parts, isolate instruments, vocals, etc... (watch the one's from Fleetwood Mac, Queen, John Lennon, The WHo). This seems to have been designed for the VERY casual Stones or to attract new fans (no cr

Several years ago I came across this website where somebody meticulously studied Led Zeppelin's studio recordings and noted of background noise, squeaky drum pedals, bad tape edits, production glitches, etc... Here is the level of detail it goes into: o "The Ocean" - A phone can clearly be heard ringing at about the 1:38 point in the song. The sheet music that accompanies th

Quotesteffiestones QuoteSwayStones I wonder how much at the time Mick was into punk ? Some interesting comments here : Mick with the vivienne westwood destroy shirt, 100% punk! Now I know where Spinal Tap got the idea for foil-wrapped cucumbers and armadillos in their trousers.

The drums on Plunder My Soul verses sound like a digitally sampled loop to my ears. I would bet money that Charlie is not the drummer.

My favorite Stones rocker since She Was Hot. Seriously. Sounds less pretentious than You Got Me Rocking, Rock and Hard Place, I Go Wild, One Hit, etc... Jagger's lyrics and vocals sound great against the guitars and rhythm. What a gem. Under the radar, indeed.

QuoteGreen Lady Coming back to punkfloyd's original question: it's not easy to know whose guitar is playing what on early Stones things (at least I don't find it easy) and YouTube videos can be very deceptive because on TV the Stones are so often miming, and not always miming what they actually play on the record. But here's one where they are really live and you can see an

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I'm not sure I could pick out Brian Jones on any songs during his era. On what songs can I hear him play a riff or something? Doesn't he do the slide on No Expecations?

Gotta admit, I didn't notice this when Rarities came out. They removed Bill Wyman, but left in a bit of his bass guitar cable! http://photoshopdisasters.blogspot.com/search?q=rolling+stones

Am I dreaming, or was the grand prize of the first contests on MTV a trip to see the Stones on their 1981 tour? I vaguely remember commercials for this...but then again I was 11 at the time!

I am also a big fan of The Smiths and of Morrissey. This post won't win them or me any new fans here, but in 1990 Morrissey wrote a song called, "Get Off The Stage"...with some very pointed words for Mick and the boys. Listen here. 'Oh, you silly old man. You silly old man in your misguided trousers. The song you just sang, it sounds exactly like the last one. I know that y

Because of Jagger's sound on the tracks with new vocals, those all sound like Jagger solo tunes to me. I can literally flip a switch in my brain an imagine most of those on Wandering Spirit or Goddess in the Doorway. Still listenable, but not first rate Stones tracks to me. To me a classic Stones track has the vocals buried deep sounding like another instrument. I mean Stones' lyri

I am truly blown away by the level of insight and expertise you guys have. I am a lifelong Stones fan and it pains me when I learn about them overdubbing live stuff. I remember several years ago when I learned Ya Ya's had overdubs. I was shattered. Yet, I don't know whats worse, discovering an overdub or hearing Keith @#$%& up the solo to Sympathy for the Devil again.

Does anybody know why they edited out "the sunshine bores the daylight outta me" line in the live version of Rocks Off on Live Licks (listen around 02:48)? To my ear it sounds like a studio edit and not a live flub. Or maybe they flubbed it and that was the best fix they could come up with? Either way...YUCK!

That's funny. In 1983, when that picture was in a U.S. rock magazine, I thought it was just really cool looking (I was 13). Like they we're just grooving. Now that I see it again, it does look a little fruity. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
