The 'Vegas-treatment' may have worked out great for GS (hell, I started this thread), but for some songs it just didn't. Take SFTD for instance. The studio version is almost impossible to copy on stage, so why even try? That's why I like the version from the GYYYO era so much more than the post '89 versions, with that horrible synthesized percussion.

Funny though that this so called 'modern version' is actually closer to the original studio recording than the 70's versions...

QuoteMathijs Then just listen to all '72, '73 and '75 versions. Mathijs I did of course and I do love them all. This one's different though, maybe I just like it so much because it's so slow paced. Makes it more powerful IMHO.

I was just watching the Stripped DVD and it struck me how great this version of Gimme Shelter is. It's a bit slower than usual, Ron and Keith are on fire and the band as a whole sounds extremely tight. If there are any better live versions, I sure like to hear them.

Unfortunately, it's probably not true. The reports were based on a Twitter card that was sent on January 5, but it is now thought it was a hoax. Read here.

Wow, what I wonderful picture. I wanted to use it as my desktop background, but the resolution is too low. Is it at all possible for you to upload it in a higher resolution (without me having to pay for it of course.)

I just love Bart's blackboard openings. Some favourites: - I will not yell "She's Dead" during roll call - I am not authorized to fire substitute teachers - Making Milhouse cry is not a science project - The hamster did not have "a full life" Ah well... they're all great!

A pure blues album (Back Of My Hand style) would be great, but I don't think it would make as much impact as Beggars, Exile or Bleed...

Well, I'm not one who cries easily, and I don't know why Preston's MSL, or the whole concert really, got to me like this. It's not because Harrison passed away, because like Big Al I don't cry over someone I never met. Perhaps it's the whole setting, the atmosphere, I don't know. It's just very touching. Anyway, I'm sorry if this concert has already

I usually hate tribute concerts, but I just saw this DVD for the first time and was totally blown away. Now I may be getting sentimental here, but I was f*cking crying during Billy Preston's version of My Sweet Lord. Your thoughts if you seen this concert? And if you haven't, look it up on YouTube. Almost all songs are there.
