I saw it last year during a two week stay in Nice. We took a little boat cruise from Nice to Villefranche, right past the house. I had to laugh when the guide on boat said "...and Mick Jagger lives there..." pointing at Nellcote.

I was a 13 year old kid with no money in a downtown music store when I used to thumb through that book once a week while I was waiting for my guitar lessons back in 1972. I handled it so much I think it ended up in the used bin! Hadn't thought about it for years, but now I see the cover and the memories come back! I loved that book, even if I never actually owned it. I remember being fas

It's a scary time for Danny and his family I'm sure, but here's hoping he gets better soon.

Really, Bill was there to play bass on tour. His musical contribution was pretty limited otherwise. If someone else had had the job instead of Bill from the start, we'd never have known the difference; the Stones would still have been the successful band we know and love. That said, I still like the old grump and wish he hadn't quit so soon.

I have to agree with all the comments that "Magic" grows on you with repeated listening. When I first heard it, I wasn't sure how I felt. Mainly the murky production put me off. After 4 or 5 listens and a close read of the lyrics it gets better. I especially like "Gypsy Biker" and the tribute to Bruce's late friend at the end.

Bruce "self-absorbed"? Maybe. But so what? Name me one famous artist who isn't? "Insincere"?. Absolutely no way. Bruce says it like he sees it, always has. That one of the things we love about him - the willingness to speak his mind on important issues, no matter what affect it has on sales. He doesn't cater to his audience either by just playing warhorses, but c

"Another Side of Bob Dylan". I love the humour in that album and the amazing songwriting. The best of his early acoustic albums. "Bringing it all Back Home". Probably his best album - the last half is astounding. My first Dylan album, so that might explain my fondness for it over "Highway 61" or "Blonde on Blonde". "Blood on the Tracks". T

I used to ask when watching those "Idol"TV shows: "Where are the Marvin Gayes of today? Where are the Billie Hollidays'?.. the Otis Reddings?...the Al Greens??" Isn't there anyone that good anymore?? And finally Amy Winehouse comes along...YES! There is a new great soul singer!!!

I've received the book, poster and DVD in the tin from the Fan Club in the past. So I was happy enough with that (though like most fans, I already had the book). But sign of any hat or any other new stuff so far. The customer service at Rollingstones.com has been very poor in my experience - any problem and they either ignore you or automatically assume you did something wrong. Just not

I think it's the ego thing that's really turning me off about this song. "Here I am with the paparazzi, look at my big fancy car, me meeting Prince Charles, etc". Yes, yes, Mick. A charmed life indeed. But some of us poor sods have to go to work now. On the other hand, if the lyrics were "I cutting my balls off" (imagine the video!), we might feel differentl

First record I ever bought was "Yogi Bear and the Three Stooges" (seriously!). Recovering quickly, I picked up "Sgt Peppers" - a good first rock album for any young lad.

I actually like most of Mick's solo stuff...but "Charmed Life" is definitely a weak track. I see no reason to blame th'Iraq or South Africa for it though; it's Mick choice to put it out.

I actual prefer Shane's both albums with the Popes. Less fabric softener, more Shane, and more Irish. Compare "Summer in Siam" with "Church of the Holy Spook". I rest my case. "Crock of GOLD" is a GREAT album, if you can find it. (I finally found a copy at the big store on the Champs D'Elysee after years of searching.)

Bulk head seats can give you room...but: Bulk heads mean babies. If you have a crying one next to you, kiss the sleeping ideas goodbye. If you're afraid of flying, listen to the rational people that have posted already comparing planes to autos. And remember, statistically, the most dangerous part of your journey will be the drive to the airport. No kidding! Once you're done that yo

"I'm Movin' On" was a Hank Snow song alright, but Hank himself became an American citizen in 1958. So he was a Canadian when he recorded it in 1950, but not when the Stones covered it. Okay, too technical. Sorry!! (Spoken like a true Canadian). It's the end of Canada Day out here in BC, but Happy Canada day to my fellow Canadians. A country of peace, tolerance, good

This thread reminds me of a family where someone at Christmas says, "What's up with Uncle Keith? He put gravy on his dessert and said a few weird things in the kitchen. Do you think maybe he's had a few too many?" Then the cousins start in with "Leave Uncle Keith alone! He's 63 for God's sake! There's nothing wrong with him!" And so the arguing sta

I bought "Back to Black" after checking out samples on Amazon, and I love it. Retro, but modern at the same time. A great singer with a lot of character in her voice.

I just got mine today, started with disc 4 because I was curious about the documentary. Now I'm on disc 1. Just great so far. I live in Canada, but I'm convinced that the best place to see the Stones has to be Argentina! Unbelievably wild fans. You can tell the Stones are blown away too by the energy.

Here's a hint: for the intro, start with a D chord played on the fourth fret (an E), add the little finger, then drop down to a regular D

I'm a big fan of Dwight too! Not much of a country music fan overall, though I do like Hank Williams and Johnny Cash (although Johnny was in his own category, not strictly country). I play DY's stuff a lot, and I agree about Pete's guitar playing - amazing! And the cover version of "I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide"...WOW! The last two studio albums from DY have bee

I'm not a real country fan, but you can't go wrong with Hank Williams (Senior). Timeless and real. Also Dwight Yoakam CD'S: "If There Was a Way", "This Time", "Buenas Noches From a Lonely Room", "Tomorrow's Sounds Today" and several others. Great voice, great sound. He's actually more popular with people who aren't fond of

Bruce is also my second favourite artist, after the Stones, and I remember an interview in which he said it's like the vote for the stamp - which Elvis do you want? The young Elvis or the old Elvis? You can have your favourite, but don't expect a true artist to stay in your favourite period forever. Which reminds me - Bruce does an absolute killer version of James Taylor's &quo

I'm not happy when anyone dies, but he's the man who said "Aids is god's way of spanking gays",and blamed the 9-11 attacks on "America turning away from god". Falwell was a sad and hateful man. Dead or not, that's a fact.

I don't think it's been mentioned so far, but one of my all-time favourites and a truly great collection is "Duke Reid's Treasure Chest". 2 cd's of wonderful 60's rock steady. If you haven't got it and you like that era of reggae, check it out on Amazon.
