This kind of goes with the post about 10 bands you change the radio station on. This is an interesting list just to scroll through - lots of music and artists I had forgotten all about. If only we could edit some of the duds out and get it on the air! Classic rock playlist

Foghat, Slade, Status Quo, Nazareth, George Harrison, Monty Python, I keep telling my own kids and the kids I teach that there will never be a decade quite like the 70's - a time for real musical innovation, creativity, and originality. Even though they all made rock 'n' roll, they all sounded different and you could tell who was who from the first few notes of a song. Most of tod

The first Stones single I bought was Jumpin' Jack Flash. First Stones album I ever had was one my mom bought for me (must have found it in a clearance bin) Now, which I really hated because I thought they sounded like hillbillies. The first album of theirs that I bought was Between the Buttons, which turned me onto the Stones for life!

I found this picture that I have never seen before of Keith, and just in case some of you haven't I thought I'd post it. The caption under the picture says "Keith Richards in the locker room of the gym of Georgia Southern College. Taken prior to the The Rolling Stones performance there on May 4, 1965. Photo by Kevin Delaney with a 110 Kodak Instamatic."

I totally agree with you Bluz. The stuff on the list and the order means nothing. The only interest to me is the background of the songs plus seeing the videos. Other than that, it is basically tripe.

Ran across this website that apparently is compiling a list of the best songs ever (I did a search and did not find this website listed in the forum). The Stones have two songs in the top one hundred: 24 with Satisfaction and 54 with Paint It Black. I think someone has been stuffing the ballot box because number 5 is The Ballad of Jane by the L.A. Guns, although to me this list is just for fun,

Hey Sleepy! Miley Cyrus is the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus (Achey Breaky Heart). She is trmendously popular with the teen crowd, has her own show on the Disney Channel, and sells out concerts like you wouldn't believe. My kids watch her show and although they enjoy it, I can't stand it. I'd rather spend a week on a deserted island with a bag of lint than listen to her sing!

1. Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) I don't know if I spelled it right and I don't care! 2. Any rap artist (I use the term "artist" very loosely) 3. George Thorogood and the Destroyers

Here in the great lakes area of the U.S we have gotten quite a bit of rain, more so than the past several summers. We haven't yet had any extended periods of intensely hot temperatures. Today the grass is green and the sky is blue, temperature 73 at 12 noon. Not bad!

The other day, out of sheer boredom, I was reflecting upon how my taste in music evolved over the years. I don't recall ever having an interest in music until I saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. Then it was like a switch turned on in my brain. So here, to alleviate any one else's sheer boredom, is my journey from the Beatles to the Stones. *Beatles stimulated interest in rock '

A bunch of interesting comments and opinions. To me, rock began waning during the disco craze of the late 70's. Many people, particularly young kids that hadn't really made a bond with any kind of music yet, attached themselves to disco. Another thing is that many bands that were strong in the 70's didn't transition well into the 80's (the 80's are what I think of

If this has been discussed before, I apologize. Sometimes we need to hear an album a couple of times before we get into it. I was wondering about Stones albums that you simply couldn't stand at first listen, only to end up loving it. The Stones album I first remember absolutley hating the first time I listened to it was Let It Bleed. I was just getting into the Stones in those days and th

This topic reminds me of when I would get paid (when I was much younger and could afford these little luxuries) and head for the record shop. It was like being a little kid in a room full of candy! I loved browsing through the bins and seeing who had new stuff out (instantly always snatched up new Kiss, Slade, Foghat, Nazareth, Bowie, and of course, the Stones). The fun thing was that I never k

Nazareth mentioned the Stones in "Shanghaied In Shanghai". "Mister we got a gig in Arizona second billing to the Rolling Stones", then it breaks into the riff from Satisfaction. A great song!

With all due respect to whoever happens to like the music of today's bands, to me they simply can't hold a candle to the originality of the late 60's/early 70's. So much of the current music scene is a poor rehashing of what came down years ago. I can play a guitar and strum chords and call myself a musician (which is what these current cats are), but the classic rock musicia

I totally agree with all the bashing of MTV - it has become a pure wasteland of trash. It is no longer "cutting edge" - that takes too much hard work! I simply flip right past it and go to the Food Channel and watch someone bake a cake. As for Britney, it's too bad to see someone go so far downhill and put on a performance like she did last night. However, I'd think twic

Yes Rocky - I remember it well, and it was exactly as you described. I waited and waited to see the Stones on the telethon and ended up seeing the clip of "Start Me Up". This was around the time "Let's Spend the Night Together" came out in theaters. I also distinctly remember Jerry making fun of the Stones afterwards. I was pretty ticked at the time, but I have grown

...something was "hello muddah hello faddah" by alan sherman or someone... Your are correct loochie. The song you are referring to was done by Alan Sherman. I believe it was called Camp Granada. It was a fave of mine too until I came to my senses and discovered rock n roll!

This has really been interesting finding out where you all live. What intrigues me most is that I am a teacher and one of the subjects I teach is eastern hemisphere geography. Many of you live in areas that are covered in the book, but basically all I know of your homelands is what is presented in the book. If only I could tap into your expertise.............! By the way, I'm in Granger,

Just wondered if anyone knew whether the boys have hit the studio anytime during the tour. That might be asking just a bit much of them, but I always hope for the best! I'd love to see them put something new together to release within a reasonable amount of time rather than package another live set.

I totally agree, JF. There is no substance to any of the music from most of the current "rock" bands. There is no interplay between the instruments - everyone seems to be banging away on the same chord and always on the same beat. It always sounds like they came in the studio with one idea and just made a few variations to stretch it out to make an album. There definitely is very li
