QuoteDeltics QuoteIrix QuoteGasLightStreet I don't see any resemblance to the Cefalu tongue. Compare it again .... There's since 2014 an article on the Web which claims: "Ernie Cefalu, whose album design for the International Paper Company show Dolls Alive! led to his later work, the Rolling Stones' Forty Licks cover." This assertion, of course, is fal

QuoteGasLightStreet I listened to the Spotify STICKY FINGERS edition and Mick talks about the logo. Never mentions Ernie, just John Pasche. Don't you think Mick would say something about Ernie if it was true? It is sad to notice that the fake "Cefalu" story is still "going on". He did a video interview which was shown on IORR where he showed a black shirt filled wit

To "The Sicilian" I would like to say: study all the setlists - in combination with the locations - available and analyse theme carefully. You will find that the Rolling Stones really do have an ear for the diehard fans! Check out some USA or European clubshows, for instance for a start. The Stones for sure listen! But greed is never welcome anywhere ...

HI 2000LYFH, nice list, but the one who made it up clearly was either drunk or not present at those Bristol shows. I was there ( hitchhiked from Liverpool on the 8th) and the Stones' encore was Street Fighting Man! They didn't play sixteen songs either! No CYHMK, no PS. The danger of copying without verifying is that for instance still recent books want to make you believe that Mick

HI luxury, Remember, it was 1971 and it was special to see the Rolling Stones only once a year. 1970 Amsterdam, 1971 Bristol, 1973 Hamburg .... I still remember lots of details and still have all the tickets too. Happy New Year

Hi JP, I do not recall that US fan and I agree it would have been noticeable because the audience was very quiet to start with. Things got "on the move" with Midnight Rambler. The setlist of the second round was: JJF, LWM, DF, SCB, LIV,MR,Bitch,HTW,Satsfaction,LQ,BS,SFM(!) and so the same as the first round, as I found out many years later. There were shows where they played 13, 14 s

I guess, I was also among the lucky ones. I was present during the second concert (started 20.30h) in Bristol's Colston Hall on March 9, 1971. Truly a great concert with a terrific rendition of Street Fighting Man. I also clearly remember the fans that left the building after the first show. It was a big, happy party of dancing people in the street. I even still have the (tiny) 75 p ticket

This is very, very sad news. Almost every Stones concert I went to during the past two decades I talked with her in Japanese. My more than 40 years relation with Japan had a lot to do with it. Although we shared the same passion (Stones) our conversations were mostly about our everyday lives. My wife and I last spoke to her in Stockholm on my birthday. From now on I will treasure that meeting a

Hi Deltics, I went over Ernie Cefalu's spoken interview several times. It puzzles me, because he says that John Pasche came after his version of february 1971. At the same time Ernie is not quite sure about the dates. FACT is that JP's original creation is medio 1970 and NOT 1971 (and so not created after Ernie's result). Also Ernie talks about a guy named Chuch (a roadie). Ther

We Stones fans always wanna know "for sure". I googled on "red lips" as well as "lips & tongue" and it's amazing to see how many images there are. Round lips with very shiny lipstick in fact sometimes show a whitish glance, which must have caught John Pasche's too at some point. His modern two-demensional approach with the two eyes in the upper lip wa

Sorry Swiss for my late response, but yes, according to the lyrics data from Keno, indeed Brian Jones also contributes, together with Keith and Bill, to the vocal harmonies on Yesterday's Papers. Brian's voice can indeed be easily distinguished from the others, For one, he didn't do a lot of backup vocals and also his lisp and roughness were his "trademark" I just l

I am pretty sure that Pasche's logo with thick tongue was earlier than Cefalu's' but it could very well be that Pasche modified his original design after having seen Cefalu's design. I also remember buying a Cefalu design logo pin many decades ago, thinking it was a counterfeit, but his interview made me think different.

Any interview with John Pasche goes accompanied with the Sticky Fingers inlay version of the logo. V&A museum eventually bought that image. Compare the logo on the backside of the SF sleeve with Ernie Cefalu's image and you notice that it has two white stripes on a slimmer tongue and more black is added. Coincidence or inspiration???

I still remember clearly a BBC interview broadcasted (black and white) on the Dutch News program on July 4th, 1969. A blond girl (Anna W.) and a tall man semi-long hair and sideboards (Frank T.), both introduced as close friends of Brian, were asked about the death of Brian. I had never heard about either of them. Anna was still clearly upset, but Frank T.'s behavior of quasi not intereste
