sitting in bible class at age 11 listening to how wrong rock n roll was i decided the next band after (beatles, aerosmith, sweet and queen) i was going to start collecting was the rolling stones. that friday after school my uncle bought me 'get yer ya-yas out' and it changed my life!! been a fan ever since then!!

i think just about everyone is tired of these old bands playing the same damn songs everytime they hit the road. out of the 14 studio albums aerosmith has put out you'd think they'd start pulling some different crap out, like the stones have done the past couple of tours. also, everyone is bled to death of these $150 and up ticket prices to hear the same old song and (dance) no ma

the stones were excellent. i've enjoyed every show i've ever seen them. but it's still not worth a ticket price over $200--period!

it maybe faster and grittier, but mick doesn't seem to really know what the verses are. in detroit he just kept basically saying the same line over and over-in other words, he slaughtered lyrically the song. the version on the 'lets spend the night together' movie was faster and clunky, the version on this tour really isn't much better...it seemed like a half hearted walk th

i'm afraid it wouldn't have mattered what the stones release from this record. there is hardly a person over 50 yrs old on billboard charts these days, never mind a rock and roll institution like the stones that still create new music. the simple matter is that despite i believe this is their most accessible new music in a while they have 'baggage' because of their long h

i was at the DETROIT show and i thought the band sounded loud and alive. the mix was definitely the best i heard at their stadium shows (silverdome and spartan stadium). i thought the band had a lot of energy and rock and roll sass. my girlfriend is not a stones fan but had tears in her eyes she was so touched by the band and music and how these are living legends still entertaining into t

i was just turning 14 when it came out and the first thing that surprised me about it was how 'clean' the guitars were in the production. hardly any distortion at at all. i was also surprised at the amount of slide/lap steel on it. since i was already a big stones fan at age 11 it didn't matter much what they would release, i still liked it...but it didn't rock enough f

yeah i agree too, seems like they could have done a little more design with it, especially since the tour program is so nice.

i have always enjoyed mccartney and the beatles, but the difference is that although mccartney can do it all, he's always been kind of a mellow guy basically. when i want to rock, i always put the stones on. i think both of those albums (ABB & CACIT are probably the best we're going to get as these people get older. no sense in arguing about which is better. i didnt' se

Tell these people that they can think what they want to, but rock performers today have less of a range than what mick originally started out with in the 60's and he still has more now than what these people got. hip hop has no real singers just a lot of screamers and vocal gymnastics. those people have no idea about creating a memorable lyric or melody to save their life. grunge

jumpinjackgreg i totally agree with you that aerosmith really is easiest and clearest choice so far to get to the stones age. they both have defined lead vocalist that both play a mean harmonica they both have a defined guitar player at the singers side (although joe perry does play a meaner lead guitar these days) they both have had a pretty steady output for past 30 years they both hav

c'mon guys! these songs surprisingly rock for 60 year old men! in the old days people this age would be doing lawrence welk crooning but the stones are still singing about lewd s & m and loose women. there are not too many of these rock stars at this senior age that can even enter a recording studio and do anything as inspiring as the stones can. mick is a highly driven man and a ver

in detroit i thought he was incredibly loose and seemed to not have a clue as to when to solo during various songs like 'YCAGWYW''TD' amongst others. chuck and mick were pointing to ron as to where to stand and i was a bit disheartened by that. despite that i thought the band in general was very good but need to drop 'shes so cold'. it's clear that mick reall

10 out of 10. i don't know really what people expect from a rock group that has been around for 40 years!

no, they are scheduled for august 31, at comerica park rain or shine. so, if it's a thunderstorm, mick and the boys are going to be prancing around on this wet slippery stage while we're all soaked in our '$160 or more seats? sounds like it's going to be a blast!

i'm getting really worried about some of these songs on the album. i haven't heard a lot of this stuff and it rather is going to be a letdown by the time i hear it. i certainly hope it's better than say, 'thief in the night','words of wonder','yap yap' and that lot. it's hard to even find a melody or a real song anywhere...it's just wh

i'm going to the detroit show and it better NOT be cancelled! i read on the detroitnews.com site that there was still 2000 tickets left with additional tickets to go on sale tomorrow when the stage is completely set up. detroit is one of the most unenthusiastic rock audiences i've witnessed. people stand or sit around with their arms folded no matter what is on the stage. must

And, even tho' it's a live album, don't forget 'live at leeds'. it's a classic kick ass album that is a monster and very hard to turn down it's so loud and rockin'! 'who are you' took a while to digest but it's a great album as well. the sound changed after keith moon's death but at least they tried to give us more music...til it

you are absolutely right kish_stoned. i have said that same thing many times. to me, the stones are distant family relatives. i've grown and they've grown older over the past 27 years i've been listening to them. people are in different parts of their lives and the stones too. obviously the band doesn't sound like the 69-74 era, but it still sounds pretty much like the 78

i agree with the consensus here. the stones could easily sell out nearly any venue if those tix were capped off. i didn't even want to take my girlfriend because i knew it was like a $500 evening!! that really is outrageous. if it costs this much for a cool stage and all the trappings, i'd rather they play a theatre for 2 nights, knock the price down and just concentrate on the band

I, for one am definitely upset about this. I mean, i thought the whole concept here was to reward the die hard fans a glimmer of hope of meeting or at least sharing a closer proximity of a seat to their favorite band. Now, it looks like you have to shell out another wad of cash to sit there, and there's still no guarantee you'll get a seat because there aren't that many. This is

wide open jar opened the show in detroit on feb 22 1999 ---pitiful, better suited to a small bar than the stones. lenny kravitz in lansing, msu spartan stadium sep 9 1994---a very uninspired performer. some said the spirit of hendrix? you got to be kidding. living colour, silverdome, pontiac dec 10 1989, just a mash of noise. horrible cluttered mix. there aren't too many new b

hey crossfire, i'll be at the comerica show as well, row 40 section B. i'm just hoping for good weather but not a hot humid oven! i saw aerosmith/kiss there a couple of years ago from up in the tiers and the sound was rough, i'm hoping the close seats will be better.

Does anyone know of any information on this? I'm very curious how they are going to select who sits there since everyone has basically bought the tickets to the shows. Do you think it will be fanclub members, like a drawing? or an additional fee we will have to dole out?

you know this whole thing about how simple these songs sound and how bad they are and the musician ship slipping: i listened to several rolling stones cd's the other day, and you know what? the band overall sounds just about the same as they have since '69. yup, that's right. the ingredients, the open tunings, charlie's snare most of the time. the harp. the same I to I

you're right jack knife, the stones fans are very negative, and there's nothing these guys can do right since the 70's is the opinion of the majority of posts. infact, i don't have one friend or know one person that is an actual fan of this band. i'm the only one that has followed these guys for the past 27 years that i know of. however, i disagree with that ov

roger daltry and robert plant, although neither one really known for their harp playing are not bad either at it. definitely both coming from the same place as jagger. as well as steven tyler as someone else mentioned already. i love hearing these guys throw down!! i hope mick plays some on this tour.

rock radio in detroit hasn't been playing SOL at all so i've only heard RJ (and i love it!). but if what you guys are saying that it sounds like his solo stuff then there is nothing wrong with that. jagger is one of the more prolific song writers in classic rock and though it's not the 60-70's anymore, these songs are still very good. it's just that he now is an ol
