Quoteleteyer What about the bomb alert. Was DC if I remember correctly. It was Charlottesville, VA. I was there but didn't feel any panic. Concern yes, panic no. More panic for me at the '75 Greensboro show. Festival seating back in those days. Me and my brother were one of the first to arrive at the parking lot about 12 noon and there were thousands there by the time they open

No one has answered shortfatfanny's original question yet. Keith and Ronnie are playing their guitars but there isn't any sound coming out of them until almost the 1:00 mark on this video. I was at this show but don't remember details and have never seen the film. I always wondered what the beginning looked like since the boot i have has waves of audience noise that gets lou

Is there any one here who doubts they will tour in next year of so to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the band? And let's be real. Some of us attempt to come off as if we have insider info and we don't. For all we know they could already be recording, or have recorded, or have plans to record new material for the tour - and none of us would have a clue until the rest of the world k

Got my first bootleg record in the mail in 1975 or '76. Welcome to New York. There was an ad in the back of Rolling Stone magazine, though i don't remember anything about the dealer. Always have a few boots with me - currently running the NC coast on business with Hampton '81, couple of 72 shows and Empire '73. Must say that the Faces 5 Guys Walk into a Bar is getting th

QuoteGazza Quotenellcote'71 This is a joke. Ronnie has "had a bad year"? How? He got divorced and he's drinking? He's a ROLLING STONE ! That's what Rolling Stone's do! Been doing it for almost 50 years! Grow up and come back here 12 months from now, by which time the guy may well be in a box and see if you feel the same way... Relax mate. Who sa

No one would condone the physical abuse story with the Russuian girlfriend but beyond that come on people. Sure Ronnie is one of the all time great drinkers but drinking, tours, drug a

QuoteEdith Grove Whatcha talkin' bout, Willis? Mick prides himself on never, ever falling on or off the stage. If anyone has a pic or footage of Mick falling during a performance, I'd love to see it! I can't prove it but Mick definitely fell on stage at the Greensboro 1975 show. I clearly remember him falling or slipping and then doing it again to pretend it was part of the

Didn't miss the Tour but regret not crashing the '78 Myrtle Beach show. We were at the beach after graduating high school and i should have tried to get tix outside the show. Saw them in Greensboro the very next week, or maybe the week before. Seen every US Tour since '75

My story is similar to hb's. I was 14 at the time and in my first year of high school in Northern NJ. First became aware of the Stones a couple years earlier, mostly from NYC radio but also things like Don Kirshner's Rock concert on TV. But once i saw Gimme Shelter on TV I was hooked. I remember scanning the tv section all the time wondering when they'd show it again (was it

QuoteT&A Quotenellcote'71 I don't know if he's on or off the sauce. But i do know that he doesn't have a drink in either hand in that photograph. is that a specimen jar in his right hand? His right arm is around his girlfriend and his right hand is on her shoulder. His girlfriend is the one with the drink in her right hand.

Happy Birthday from Greensboro Mongoose. I saw the 75 Greensboro show too and we were probably at some other shows at the Coliseum in the 70's.

UrbanSteel thanks very much for all that you post on this site. I never get tired of watching this version of Happy. If there is any film of Keith more zonked out on stage than this i'd like to see it. How he got through some shows i'll never know. Mick is great taking care of him and carrying the vocals. He wants to let Keith do it but he just isn't able to make the whole

QuoteChris Fountain Mongoose Do you remember the lobby glass doors of the Greensboro Coliseum were shattered because of chaos? Chris - are you sure this was one of the Stones shows in Greensboro? I was sort remembering it as the '77 Zeppelin show in Greensboro, but it could have easily been the Stones. Was it '75 or '78? Mongoose - i remember Rooster on this board talking

QuoteShawn20 For me it was listening to Ya Yas and then seeing a midnight showing of Gimme Shelter the very next weekend. I was hooked for life. Four short years later I saw the infamous 78 tour - I was a lifer for sure. Long live the Stones, no one bitches about them more than me, but I love that band. Let's hope for another tour soon. Same for me, only a few years earlier and in a li

CHARLOTTE (AP) - Bill Werber, who was the oldest living ex-major leaguer and a former teammate of Babe Ruth, has died at age 100. Werber's son, Bill Jr., said his father died Thursday morning of "old age" after moving into an assisted care facility three weeks ago. A career .271 hitter who led the American League in stolen bases three times, Werber played with Ruth, Lou Gehri

Catfish was a North Carolina boy (where's Lukester?). No question big money has impacted baseball, and all sports, in a negative way. But baseball is still baseball. I really get a kick out of running the kids baseball program here in my small NC town. In fact, i'm comparing a few different baseballs right now as i get my baseball orders ready for the season. Each age league uses

Bingo - i know what you mean. Bugs me that the Yankees spent so much money in that short period of time a month or two ago. It ain't right. Of course, i'll forget all that the first of April and i'll be snarling at all those pink Red Sox hats i see on women in the supermarket during the season.

Quotehbwriter Where is the field? (what state) always love hearing bits of baseball history-- do you recall this place? the polo grounds in NY? Our fields are in North Carolina. I grew up going to Yankee Stadium for the Yankees and the football Giants. While i don't know a lot about the Polo Grounds i do know that's where the Yankes played before Yankee Stadium was built in 192

Just sent a Mass Email out on Registration this morning to about 1000 email addresses. An older gentleman who lives next to the Pinto field told me our fields were built in 1959, the year after he built his house, so my current project is to ve
