Ron Wood brought a lot to the Stones but not as a musician. He was, I guess, sometimes a kind of go-between the glimmer twins. Mick Taylor is an unsurpassed blues-rock guitar player to the exception of Clapton. When he left the Stones he was not 30 years old and had the glimmer give him more credits to his songwriting he would have stayed many more years.

YCAGWYW 73 : Keith did more than chomping down, he did embrace that song, push it beyond the limits, finding the riffs from heavenly inspiration, not a single chorus is the same. I am still wondering 30 years later how that man found out this perfection. In front of this, Tyalor could but only produce a "tonal heaven" and magic solo. Last but least Bobby Keith was phenomenal supported

I would prefer Taylor 41 solos of YCAGWYW than Ron Wood. I must have already roughly 20 versions.Without any doubt the best one is on Brussels Affairs in 1973. The complicity with Keith is unbelievable .

Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor at Wembley. Fair enough, don't you agree.

My intention was obviously not to compare The Stones to CĂ©line Dion. She has her public, the Stones their own. What disturbed me is that both of these publics can mix at Stones OnStage. We have attended many concerts between the Golden Stadiums Age built by Mick and Keith starting in 1980's and culminating with Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle. Gazza wrote sometimes and here that he hoped the Stone

I read contradictory reports in these posts about selling in the US ? Where is the truth. What do the Stones prefer for posterity : play 2 Giants Satdiums or a single one with great difficulties? Play 2 Soldier Fields or one ? Has Rock which is supposed to the lives of Mick, Keith and Charlie turned to Las Vegas ? Do the Stones want to desperate the guy next door, youngsters who could have the op

As I read nothing on the subject, I would be interested to know wether the Stones are still in if we compare them to comparables bands on an arm's length basis : Macca, Springsteen and U2 who succeeded to sell-out there respective american tour within 1-2 hours at same price as the band.

As I read nothing on that subject, except ticket pricing, I would be interested to know if the band can still be compared nowadays to comparables band on an arm's length basis : Macca, Springsteen and U2. They all three succeeded in selling out their american tour at same price as the stones within 1-2 hours. Are we still in ?

My mathematics are going wrong. U2 estimated crowd : 60 dates, 1.2 Millions in the US with a Grosss up 130 Millions USD, e.g. per capita 105 USD. RS 2002 leg : 1.2 Miilons attendance, gross up : 85 Millions USD, e.g 70 USD per capita. That does mean U2 can sell 50 % over the Stones. Good for them. Now, if you add up the 2003 US leg tour : attendance 240,000 x 70 USD that makes up to 16.8 Millio

I prefer oranges to potatoes. But foremost, as Rock is supposed to be popular music, I would dream that for this Farewell Tour, they come back to Steel Wheels Tour alike and set another record of popular audience which have drown since then due to ticket prices mostly. 7.5 Millions, then 6.0 Millions, and to a poor 3.5 Millions in Forty Licks. The Rock Fans deserve it, they too. I guess they hav

I confirm that the Stones were the first artists to play at the Stade de France. It would seem quite bizarre and inadequate not fot them to do the same for the new Wembley. I can assure you that many french stones Fan will comme accross the channel for that event....

It will depend from my perspetive on how Hit is the new album, selling ticket prices ( which in turn will reflect where they will show). Nevertheless if they play first in the US they will have a harsh time if they stick to arenas shows because as you write U2 are in the places ( 8 MSG !!!!). Better tuurn to Shea or JFK. If you are still the Greatest R&R Band, you have to show in front of va

Fully agree on that. Stones are borne for Stadiums.Even if Mick complains on his back, based on the shows I attended on last tour he is fit to run a marathon. The Stones have always loved challlenges. This is a real one.And as always will make it.

To John r, Yes we have but not searching excatly the same things or notes. I prefer Taylor in CYHMK or YCAGWYW blues touch in 1971-1973 ( re-Brussels Affair) than Wood's rock one. Regards

It' s funny wondering after 30 years what does this guy do within the Stones. I guess he just allows Mick and Keith stay together fo a while. By comparison, nobody asks this kind of question with the 5 years of Sir Mick T He contributed to the greatest albums the Stones ever made on a musical standpoint. So it is irrelevant to post such a disgusting photo. How would have he looked like if

No it is not. How many tickets ( not in USD but in numbers) will the Stones be able to sell in the forthcoming tour if it ever happens ( which I obviously hope). Upon this, lie their status as current greatest Rock and Roll Act. History is another subject.

I do not feel to have both of those configurations.Has someone got the email address of Mr Landerman just to give him my opinion on such an

Thanks for this conclusion which was in fact in between the lines of your prior mail. As you are much better informed than I( I got none), this means that the new CD will add nothing, that the new tour will be arenas ( no new Wembley) and thus the Stones have to drop and play in movies like the Pirates in Carrabeans. Best Regards and good WE.

It's a fair analysis but you do not conclude or propose any pro-active actions . I have heard this kind of reasoning too many times. The Stones regained popularity each time they threw out Rock songs like Stat me up or some stuff in Steel Wheels. Don't Stop was nice but... On my point of view the answer lies with Mick and Keith daring to write # 1 top selling songs and we know they hav

"Tell me" single. The first of Jagger-Richards out in France , back in 1964. I was 10. Outdated, but .....I wanted to buy " Carol" which drove me into the Stonesland. The latter was thus my second buy.
