I know the singer in Brian Jonestown. He's had a terrible drug addiction for a long time. Genious? I don't think so. Interesting character? Maybe, as long as he's not your roomate. The band doesn't play too much anymore. They've had more members than Menudo.

Dang, does Jagger really like young Brown Boy Sugar? I mean, that's ok and everything but it's a little weird. He's such a ladie's man. Girls' have always loved him, more so than guys anyhow. I mean straight guy's like him b/c he's what they all want to be. Mick as a @#$%& really doesn't sit well with me but I'm would not be surprised in the least. Aft

I must plead ignorant on my pot history. But the turkish hash thing sounds about right for a bunch of english boys in the late 60's.

You're right about that. They did know more about Americana music than most US citizens. Good point.

I always had a tough time explaining the Stones to my friends. That was until they got it and couldn't stop listening. Don't give up.

Sort of Blue Grass but more Green Grass, as in pot. What did the boys know about America in 67-68 anyhow? I love those songs though. "Waiting for a girl who's got curler's in her hair. Waiting for girl, she no money anywhere."

Oh, and yes, it's cool when Jagger goes to his natural voice from the falcetto. Great production.

Every song on this record is great. What is wrong with you people? Wouldn't you kill for a record this summer as good as ER??????????? Gimme a break. Where the Boys Go is a great song. "I piss away my money and I can't stand up." I'd love to see some of you critics write lyrics like that. Down in the Hole is an amazing song."Bumming for nylons in the American zo

I was wondering how the Stones came to write such songs as Dear Doctor, Factory Girl during the Beggars recording? At that point in time the Stones were still young very English blokes. Maybe that's the reason. They could relate to the hills of West Virginia. Still I find it funny that at such a young age they wrote songs taking a piss on Americana. They must of had some really good American

Channel 9 in Los Angeles had a report on the news tonight that the Stones will open in Boston this year to coecide with their new record. They said, Insider's say that this is their last tour. Sounds like the band is leaking out info. I doubt it's Fenway for opening night. Too small. If this indeed is their last album, I hope it's good. No more over produced crap please. Less is

Ran into Keith on the way to MSG to see the Grateful Dead in 1988. I, and the couple of freinds I was with were all decked out in Dead gear. Keith had one of his kids stratling his neck as he walked along with his wife. I blurted out, "keith, we're on our way to see Jerry." He laughed and said tell him I said hello.

In all honesty this may not be the best place to go to for real help. No doubt there are many "sober" people here, and they can help. But you need to get out to your local AA meeting or have a revelation that you are going to stop. I also have been fighting booze for a long time, and I'm still not ready. It would take a very unique post on a Rolling Stone's message board to

"Too Tough"? I'd like to see those dance moves. Undercover is such a wierd album. Sometimes I love it and sometimes don't at all.

"you've been staring in my dreams." Reaccuring dreams of old girlfriends is harsh. Sometimes I think MJ doesn't get enough credit for his lyrics. Othertimes I understand why.

This is a great thread already. I got to see Charlie in the mid 90's at the Henry Fonda Theatre in Hollywood. It was his Jazz outfit. Mick was in the first row. That was just a great show all around. Charlie could not have seemed happier.

George Jones. That's all a lonely drunk needs, besides more alcohol. I'd try "If Drinking don't Kill Me" for starters, then work your way up to "Wine Colored Roses". George has a way with the bottle.

On second thought, why are the lyrics so good on Beggars? I know Jagger can come up with some great stuff, but this album is lyrically charged. And what is the motivation for a song like Dear Doctor or Factory Girl? The lyrics are so "tongue in cheek" towards Americana they're almost humorous. It's interesting to wonder what was motivating these guys during the recording

From my experience, Drummers are never happy. They want to play guitar and sing. If not, they end up dead. Charlie Watts is the only exception to this rule that I know.

Hampton is odd but it is known as one of the better sounding indoor venues on the east coast. Plus it's far enough away from any major cities, but still a populated area, that it's a no-brainer. The Grateful Dead would normally play there 3-times a year throughout the late 80's early 90's.

If I never hear Stairway to Heaven again it will be too soon. The fact that the guitar solo from the song "Loui Loui" by the Kingsmen is absent, makes this list suspect. One of the best early songs of Rock and Roll with a guitar solo poduced by a cheap fender amp turned up all the way. More notes doesn't always mean more feeling.

I know what I would love to listen to. It's a 78 show called Garden State 78, from New Jersey. Great show. I have a Mac, how do I find this show and download it, or buy it. Here are some of Mick's lines from the show. "I don't know how much you guy's had to pay for your ticket's but I didn't have to pay much. Oh well, @#$%& it." "We are going to

I still have that promo sticker. As a stupid teenager I unpeeled the giant tongue on the shrinkwrap plastic and stuck it to the black and white 70's logo. It looks cool but the 70's is partially covered. I love the version of Everything is Turning to Gold. Great rocker.
