QuoteBig Al but did they have a phobia of crossing the Atlantic? I'm reading the excellent Noel Monk (manager) book Running with the Devil, apparently Dave was terrified of flying!

QuoteGasLightStreet ...he got Roth actually back in the band and Eddie pulled out some tunes they'd done for VAN HALEN and that became Tattoo and a few others on A DIFFERENT KIND OF TRUTH. It was the only song on the LP that sounded like Van Halen... I agree with most everything else except this. With this album, they got their balls back, and the guitar has the same - or very similar - en

EVH was the best, in my top 10 somewhere amongst Jerry Garcia, Yngwie Malmsteen, Hendrix, Dimebag Darrell, Randy Rhoads, George Lynch, Warren Demartini, etc. The first 6 Van Halen records are perfection. If anyone has a link where I can download the Oakland 1981 show (flac or mp3), I'd be happy to check it out! The only thing I've found is a stream of the show here:

I have the Swinging Pig version. For those who have the new release, is it a night and day difference or would you call it a slight improvement. I hate buying the same show twice...but...

Quotetimbernardis Yes, I was going to say that they should release Paris 2. What a great show that was. My top Stones show ever. plexi Same here...Dancing with Mr. D was an awesome surprise.

Was just listening to YCAGWYW from Atlantic City 89 and was wondering if anything new is going on with this lawsuit: nope!

Could Trumps team get around this by, say, playing a cover version of the same song?

I still have a SD ticket, but only cuz my friends are holding onto theirs and they're the ones managing them. Time will tell.

Still in Paris, riding my skateboard about town, drinking a kir right now and looking for Miss Perfect!

I still have a ticket for the SD gig...but would prefer they cancel and play in England, it was fun taking the Eurostar from Paris and bumming around London before the 2018 show I attended! (although visiting their house on Edith Grove was a waste of time and I regret not going to Bill's Sticky Fingers!)

Quotebv Blame it on the virus. I don't see any large crowds allowed until there is a vaccine, and that will take a long time. It is sad, because we all love the Stones when they are best - live. Still, we do also love our older generations, and we need to protect them. That is more important than having large crowds. Here in Paris: June and July 2020 Aerosmith, Queen and Iron Maiden shows

Quotematxil Obviously it would be a good thing to change the lyrics in Brown Sugar and Some Girls. I'm against changing lyrics live (and on album, but that never happens post-release), unless it's for fun or to acknowledge a local city (for instance). In any case, Jagger's already changed and removed certain Some Girl lyrics (on the No Security tour and at the Shine a Light/Be

QuoteTeaAtThree That's precisely where you are wrong about the Dead, GasLightStreet. They sounded drastically different in different eras - not unlike the Brian Jones, Mick T, Ron Wood changes in sound. The Dead in 69, 72, 77, 89/90 are totally different. Some swear by 77 while others think back-up singer Donna ruins everything she touches. Others swear by the resurgence in 89/90 but howl

QuoteGasLightStreet They're still nowhere near as redundant as the Grateful Dead. Well, with around 187 official live releases out, there's bound to be a few that have similar - though not identical - songs in their sets. At least the Dead never played the same setlist (not even close!), they kept things fresh; whenever they played 3 nights in one city it was extremely rare for them

Quotemasseywinos I really liked No Security. Besides having the best cover ever, the newer material better than studio versions. And I like all the others even the Dave Mathews guest spot. I prefer the YaYas album cover a lot more, but I agree with the rest!

QuoteStoneage Wow, the cover makes a lot more sense to me know with the left part...I always thought that was the Eiffel Tower for some reason and it never occurred to me that that was supposed to be a stadium, haha!

QuoteErik_Snow QuoteLeonidP Swingin Pig version is horribly overloaded. Just like Atlantic City 89. What do you mean by that? It took me forever to track down the SP version of AC89, and I'm fine with it so far. Do you expect the upcoming reissue to be better?

Quotestone66 After TY gets the deluxe/remaster/reissue treatment, then it gets depressing, because all that's left will be Undercover, Dirty Work, etc. I see what ur saying, but they haven't been doing them all chronologically, ie Some Girls before the Goat Head Soup reissue, etc. And Undercover is a pretty cool record too imho.

QuoteTumblinDice76 FrogSugar-years ago when the Some Girls reissue set came out, Jagger said in an interview that they still need to do Tattoo You and few others. So it appears, a special edition TY is planned but who knows when it will surface. Cool...I don't remember reading that :-) I guess I'll wait until the end of next year then.

Quoteretired_dog QuoteFrogSugar I'd never noticed the mono vs stereo differences before as my stereo speakers are pretty close together on the other end of the room, but when I relistened to both versions up close so that each speaker is aimed at different ears I can really hear the difference.
