QuoteHairball Quoteguitarbastard there wont be another stones tour probably.. shurely not 2021. Imagine if they did a live stream pay-per-view with only a small handful of family and close friends in actual attendance? Maybe do a series of them in different settings to mimic a tour. Surely they could set a record for virtual "attendance", not to mention all the money they could ra

QuoteSomeTorontoGirl QuoteSwayed1967 Wow, I never knew that. Artistic licence indeed - Neil was closer to Florida than Northern Ontario, practically speaking. IMO, you’re a southerner if you don’t live north of the Wawa goose. But sticking with Canuck lyricists, the second verse of ‘Suzanne’ usually gives me goosebumps... Agree with you Swayed, Leonard’s lyrics are an abundance of riches

I renounced my Canadian citizenship over this song. Somewhat drastic to be sure - I mean there are worse Stones covers out there - but I couldn't keep bowing to a regime that force-fed me crap like this with their fascist Canadian content laws. They brainwash you in Canada. And here's the proof: I was a Streetheart fan before I was a Stones fan! How f##ked up is that? Think about it.

QuoteElmo Lewis I think "Ain't No Use In Crying" is soooo underrated. I hate the term "criminally underrated". Yup. Fingers crossed that I'll be pardoned by the President for my crime.

I just listened to Starship Trooper for the first time in at least 30 years. It took a little time to find it cuz I couldn’t recall the title – all I remembered was that it was the only YES song I ever liked. Glad I reconnected with it - Transcendent and joyous tune. However, I have no desire to delve further into ‘prog rock.’ Growing up Canadian and bound by Canadian content laws, I’m more fa

For doggy style definitely Bitch – your dong mimics the movements of the brass section. I find that Jumping Jack Flash is good for cowgirl when the woman gets tired and needs you to pick up the slack. But if your woman wants conventional missionary romance, screw the Stones and put on ‘Tonight’s the Night.’

The Doobie Brothers – Michael McDonald is a God. Get on your knees and pray! REM – Haven’t a clue what Stipe is singing in Pretty Persuasion but it sure sounds perty. The Flying Burrito Brothers – Dylan said Palace of Sin was his favorite record of 69. Good enough for me. (And a true Stones fan gets Gram onto this list with either this band or The Byrds.) The Doors – But only when I was

QuoteHairball Large cats in captivity, including several lions and tigers in a New York zoo, a puma in South Africa, and tigers in a Tennessee zoo have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 after showing signs of respiratory illness. It is suspected these large cats became sick after being exposed to zoo employees with COVID-19. Dreadfully sorry to hear about the puma and tigers but in all likeli

QuoteElmo Lewis QuoteSwayed1967 Child of the Moon, especially the rapturous ending. Tumbling Dice is also a good choice but some of the songs people are voting for makes me think there are way too many Americans on this board. What does that mean? Euphoria is euphoria, right? Well, if you stand up straight maybe I can shine a little light…Music is like a drug that produces feelings of euphori

I'm grateful I was a teenager in the 80s because had I come of age in the 90s vomit-inducing songs like this one might have prevented me from becoming a Stones fan.

I owned the Essential Jimi Hendrix compilation as a kid which is pretty much all you need…or so I thought until I heard 1983 (A Merman I Should Turn To Be) for the first time just a few days ago. Praise Neptune! Epic and inventive track and possibly the only song ever with the word ‘Merman’ in the title (which if you haven’t already will allow you to forgive Jimi’s horrendous grammar in ‘Castles

No, actually it’s fantastically overrated among the small minority of fans who like ABB since LIND always seems to garner the most praise. I understand why people single this song out but to elaborate on that would be to insult them so I’ll hold my peace. Suffice it to say I haven’t listened to anything on ABB since its Creation.

Four pages to discuss (and at times praise!) this flimsy excuse for a song?? The guitars sound pleasant enough - the song had potential - but the lyrics have that 90s Jagger stink. Three verses of Jagger finding unimaginative ways to say the same thing over and over: ‘loosen up, babe.’ It’s a three-word song with no emotional or intellectual depth. Jagger would never have released something so

When the Stones lost the prolific and creative Keith Richards to his drug dealers in the 70s the band went downhill. And their descent to mediocrity found another gear soon after when the Jagger who could write powerful lyrics jumped ship. One would hardly notice the loss of Brian, Mick T. Bill etc. if the Glimmers hadn’t burned out (just like few people in 1971 mourned the loss of Brian when the

I wouldn’t call myself a huge John Wayne fan…I know the voice of course, I dig the Stones connection etc. but I don’t think I’ve ever sat through one of the Duke’s movies. However, I proudly display ‘The Official John Wayne Handy Book for Men’ on my coffee table. Why? Because in 2018 that was the trendy thing to do. In 2016, the people bought Blue & Lonesome for the same reason. But not me, p

QuoteDandelionPowderman Love me some Columbo, but what exactly was the Stones content here again? How about the making of Exile on Main Street? Is that enough Stones content for you? You've seen the pics of Gram and Gretchen at Nellcote. Gram was more important to Keith than his drug dealers and Mick learned a few licks from him as well. Larry Burrell, Gram's father-in-law, is in

Quotetomk "Of the sixty-nine Colombo episodes produced this is the only one in which the murderer implies he could bang Colombo’s wife. Johnny was so Alpha! And yet sympathetic at the same time." Where/when does Tommy Brown say this? Early in the episode Columbo, trying to explain the dangers of celebrity, tells Tommy how his wife carries on when she listens to his records. Tommy

Quotetomk Huge, huge Columbo fan here, Swan Song is in my Top 5 episodes. However, I can't see Keith and Parsons watching these--except maybe the first season--and even then the dates are iffy. I said I was only kidding about that. The reporter at the crash sight was, however, Gram’s father-in-law, a fact I (and I alone it seems) find fascinating. The episode aired about one year after

QuoteHairball Could be my favorite episode mostly because it's Johnny Cash, but not because of his acting skills ha. From memory, Johnny says in frustrated anger: "Now you just wait a minute Columbo!!!", and says it not very convincingly lol. Off the top of my head, several other favorite Columbo episodes, listed by guest actors (who can actually act): - Dick Van Dyke - Rodd

Quotetomcasagranda The other song was I Saw The Light, which Johnny recorded specifically for the episode. I wasn’t aware of that, thanks. Given the popularity of the Cash episode I’m surprised that other artists like Dylan or Jagger didn’t audition for Columbo – both would’ve made great villains.

So now that I've gifted you this knowledge I'd think you'd want to call a friend who shares your interest in Columbo and Gram/Keith and say 'hey remember that Johnny Cash episode? Gram Parsons' father-in-law was in it.' That goes for everyone. I didn'

Johnny plays Tommy Brown - a famous country/gospel singer who kills his hypocritical bible spouting blackmailer of a wife by intentionally crashing his Cessna (he’s a pilot too!) with her and his underage lover on it while he parachutes into the arms of a new nubile choir girl. Ballsy! And like Sir Mick Johnny is a pretty good thespian but best of all he sings two songs during the episode (th

I would take a Tattoo You approach to transforming this album - a rockin' side and a softer side. 1. Criss Cross - Baffles the hell out of me to this day that Mick and/or Keith thought Mr. D worthy of opening the album... 2. All The Rage - Probably the weakest of the new releases but Mr. D and Can You Hear The Music are abominations... 3. Star Star- This has always been a song in n

Live Licks I’ve never owned but got to listen to it once while shopping in a funky store (Nakano Broadway) in Tokyo. I was impressed by some of the rare cuts but not enough to run to the record store. Studio versions are vastly superior - you either get that or you don't. I saw Shine A Light in a theatre but all I remember is the cringeworthy opening sequence where Scorsese is fretting ab
