I have the Glimmerpub version as well. Did some research before getting it and found it's the best release according to general consensus. If I'm wrong i'd very much like to know!

Love it. Captures some great and magical moments like when the curtain opens and they hit the stage and the Imagination jam during sunset. Great visuals! The thing that bugs me is the speeded up sound that starts hurting my ears after an half an hour or so. Plus the movements of the Stones, crowd and security guards look so unnatural because of it; makes them all look like coked up actors fro

The guy actually looks like Ronnie! Imagine guitar in lieu of ski, obligatory cigarette.. I wonder: would Ronnie be clowning in full flight?

Duh! Let them open for the Johan Cruijff Schaal instead. A home game in the Amsterdam ArenA.

Kyle, have you considered getting nos 1 & 2 from the Decca Bootleg series? They're excellent: great sound, bonus tracks, original artwork, and they're only 15 euro a piece. check out this link:

I was perhaps a bit harsh on Keys, Mathijs, but I can't imagine him playing those totally relaxed, long melodic and meandering lines Ernie Watts played. The entrance of Chuck is exactly the reason why I don't listen to Napoli anymore, eSPEcially Imagination. Not just the end of an era, but also the beginning of one. Or an inverted memento mori, if you want.

Totally agree, Wuudy. I never understood the Ernie Watts bashing on this board. He's an excellent musician and fitted in perfectly on this tour, esp. on songs like Imagination, WoaF and the ones you mentioned. Truly a great addition to the Art of Weaving - which was REAL back in '81. Keys played only on a couple of songs (his classic solo on BS a.o.) because he is such a poor improviser

Right, Esky, but let's not forget the whole Keith in the process. The two are till the last fibre in their bodies interWOVEN by their ART. Forever!

1000. Re: Lent.
Stick to a diet of shepherd's pie, pasta con sugo di pancetta e cipolle, cranachan (with a tiny bit less double cream) and you'll be fine for the next 40 days, Deidre. Just be sure to say ten Hail Marys before attack. And Goat's Head Soup will do for a vesper.

Nice story fortilix, and comforting in a way: the man dóes seem to care about his legacy.

Indeed. And btw, davido, what you mean with "hype" in the review and my "intent in the past" completely eludes me.

Those wonderful pearls falling from the sky during the coda of Tumbling Dice US '72 and OZ '73 tour, plus the interaction with Mick Taylor: The Two Graces tossing arpeggios to eachother.

You find this more pleasing to the eye?... Up until 2004, Stop Making Sense was the only easily available live Talking Heads album on compact disc, but it caught the band in the second phase of its career, presenting a polished stage show after having arrived squarely in the mainstream with the success of Speaking in Tongues (their fifth album) and "Burning Down the House" i

Geez, now I really AM flattered! Yes, the review is great but it's not mine (scissors! - better had named the source on top of the post instead of below). Check out this link: and bookmark allmusic.com. Excellent site, ideal for navigating. Ever knew Nicky Hopkins appeared on a couple of Julio Iglesias' albums?

Since it's the only version I have of this show I can't compare, but I think Esky recently said so. The boot says it's "Made exclusively from a 2nd generation tape from the master reels". If you want to have a copy drop me a line.

And what about the upgrade of MSG 27-11-69 Kees mentioned - anyone heard it? Is it better than Live In New York and the release by Penetration Records?

Scones, onion sauce, or shepherd's pie? Or all three of them? (not necessarily on the same plate). A thread certainly worth to be kept ali.. erhh.. eaten!

Thanks all! Got it, and it sure rocks! Really a great show, maybe not as good as Hampton (what's the thing with birthday shows?) but up there with other great 81's like Hartford. Bonuses are cooking versions of All Down The Line and @#$%&, plus a crisp and clear - probably mixed in - Take The "A" Train intro. Oh yes, and a 12 page booklet.

Not just on LSTNT, Deidre, it's on the whole tour that Bill's playing stands out! The golden opening trio Under My Thumb, Whip, LSTNT still remains unsurpassed imo. Better include Take The A Train as well - so make that a quartet.

Mozart was the greatest composer of all time, but Schubert was a greater composer of songs. Unless you count the aria's from M's operas, that is ...

Anyone can tell how the quality of this show is, recently released by Rattlesnake and other labels before. I've heard only a short fragment and am curious about the performance, since I don't collect as much from this tour as say from the '72 or '69. Sound is a typical '81 mono soundboard from what I've heard.

I guess with the release of Jumping Jack Flash. Not a bad attempt at all, since it's the most perfect song in the history of rock IMO.

Exile, the only one where the package reflects the content: dark & messy, Americana.. The only cover also that can stand on its own as a piece of art. Great piece of work by Robert Frank. Ugliest must be DW. Again: form reflects content! (sorry Deidre)
