QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteGemini QuoteDandelionPowderman Here's the live version from Honolulu 1966. Sounds good to me, but Keith's slide playing is a little wonky. Keith Richards isn't playing slide, Brian Jones played the slide on his rickenbacker 12 string when they played it live. Probably the case for studio version as well, but Keith just didn't remember

Quotedrewmaster Ahhh, now we are talking about the Stones at their finest. Stray Cat Blues is so steeped in delirious lecherousness that I’m surprised the band wasn’t immediately arrested and locked away the day it was released. Everything works perfectly here, starting with that coy, teasing introduction. Mick is at the height of his powers, dripping with unbridled lust and sexual come-ons. Tho

QuoteTonyMo This. Just imagine what Mick Taylor could've done with Tumbling Dice -a flurry of triplets and trills then a trip up and back the pentatonic major in thirds followed by more trills and triplets. Heaven!! (did not Mick write 'Heaven' as a paean to what'Tumbling Dice' might have been had not Keith stuck his slow motion fingers in there?) You're rig

QuoteDandelionPowderman That's more like it, Doxa. Great post! <My part is just to make up my mind if I like his act or not.> Of course. Just as I should be allowed to surprised, about hordes of fans all of sudden found out that they didn't like his act, after reading his bio. And it's just MY THEORY that people didn't have that knowledge prior to reading the b

Some of the promotional interviews for the book have more of what some posters here seem to have been hoping for. James Fox just might not have been all that good at getting all that much of the mature and reflective side out of Keith. I personally think Keith got exhausted and bored by the whole process of talking about the past for the book early on and that it could be partly why there isn

Hmmm, my face value take on the book is that he's a deep lover of music, loved his mum, has quite an ego, has many double standards and also plays a character to keep the real person away from the bullshit of fame and all the weirdness that comes from total strangers thinking they know you. Not that bad really considering he's been in one one of the most famous bands in the world si

Expectations are the problem, not the book. Like an album, who the artist is at that time, what they have been through and what they are able and willing to reflect on for all to see is laid out in their creation. It is a shame that it was written when it was as a much better place and viewpoint was just around the corner. But, there it is, a snap shot of Keith's own thoughts on his

Quotewith sssoul The guy at 23:55 doesn't look to me like the "Hyde Park guy" aka "Anita's friend". The one in the second photo Gemini posted looks a lot more like him: To me a little chest hair doesn't make a compelling argument :E And if the first photo Gemini posted is the same person it just shows what a mobile face he had - one of those types

Quote2000 LYFH OK just so I am clear, you are suggesting that the guy on stage at Hyde Park is in the movie but his name is not Hayden Couts who is also in the movie? It's Haden (who plays the Adept) in the first three pictures that swiss posted on page 5. The Hyde Park guy is at 23:55 that I posted here (and which someone stated was Chris Jagger)! Kenneth Anger ... The Magus (uncr

Quoteswiss Dang Who the eff is it? There must be Kenneth Anger aficionados knowlegable about who'd've been with Anger at Hyde Park, right...? I'm using as many emoticons as I possibly can here. I think he might be who ever this Invocation Of My Demon Brother - Van Leuven - Acolyte person is. The only named character of which there seems to be nothing else about.

Quoteswiss Has anyone watched it? I just can't stomach it right now. This version is remastered (so it says). Anyway, I watched it, check out the guy at 23:55 if you don't want to watch the whole thing. Looks like him to me! Yes, that's the hyde park guy and not Haydn Couts.

It isn't Haydn Couts. Different nose, mouth and eyes. Plus he's a hairy chest man, the Hyde Park man is more of a mixed race sort of look and lacking hairy chest right up to his neck.

Quotecrumbling_mice Well...you can all thank me later, but I'm 99% sure I have found our mysterious man...if it's him and I think it is, he appears in the Kenneth Anger film 'Invocation of my Demon Brother' For those of you who have seen this 11 minute short film you will know just how weird it is and very typical of the film scene around that time. I've posted the li
