QuoteGasLightStreet Quote20kGrandmas it’s really all about the songwriting for me. I could care less about guitar solos…the idea that any type of magic is gone while Keith and Mick are still writing together is blasphemous. My favorite and one of the greatest songwriting duos of all time in the history of music are putting out another album. Just feel lucky we get one more. Can’t wait to add i

QuoteRocky Dijon QuoteGerardHennessy With respect I sense a degree of annoyance with my enquiry Rocky. Not necessary my friend. I meant no disrespect by it. My enquiry was perfectly reasonable. No annoyance at all and I didn't think the question was disrespectful. My response was meant to convey that short of stolen or hacked documents, there is no "proof" until it is an offici

Quoteribbelchips This topic is about remixes by other artists, right? Different takes on songs, by adding and/or removing instruments or complete parts of the songs. adding loops, samples... QuoteRocky Dijon QuoteGerardHennessy There appears to be a growing consensus that a new album will be released in November-time. Or something passing for a new album. Is there any hard evidence for this? Or is it a lot of wishful thinking, hoping, fantasising? A longing for something before Christmas? Hard evidence before the label or the artist announce an official release date? What exactly

Quoterolling1us Quotekeefriffhards Does anyone else tire of all this BS concerning the release date of alleged studio album. Yup, it's getting boring and pointless. Without any official announcement it's just like talking about the weather. It might be sunny or it might rain and nobody can change that. Hope we will get a new album but if not, nothing we can do about it. Thank you

There appears to be a growing consensus that a new album will be released in November-time. Or something passing for a new album. Is there any hard evidence for this? Or is it a lot of wishful thinking, hoping, fantasising? A longing for something before Christmas? I am disheartened by apparent money-grabs like the vinyl-release of 40 Licks. No doubt it will appeal to some. And completists wi

QuoteSpud Was lucky enough to see Rory a number of times from the early 70s onwards. Not only a wonderful guitar player but, once he started playing, a fantastic showman. ...and it was all completely natural and instinctive...no posing for effect. Spot on Mr Spud. Rory never posed in his life. Neither indeed have his brother Donal and his nephew Daniel, both of whom do a fabulous job kee

I love Blue & Lonesome. Always have, always will. And to be perfectly honest I would love The Stones to do another album of well chosen covers. Maybe soul, maybe country, maybe reggae. They excel at performing all these genres. Lucinda Williams did a whole series of excellent cover albums a while back. Including one of Stones numbers. And she is a performer who is still producing excellent or

QuoteMKjan Quotepaulywaul QuoteRoadster32 I don't care. I just won't go. Right answer !! I care, but I'll still go. My dentist can wait. I'm with those who don't care any longer and won't go! Not that there is any certainty they WILL tour again. When you are in your 60's, even early 70's a few months is nothing. Hitting 80 is a real milestone,

QuoteHairball They should release the new album just "for the heck of it". I don't care what reason they use. Just release the thing! That is IF there is an actual new album? Maybe Keith wandered into the control room half asleep a while back and accidentally wiped the master tape!!!

Quoteangee Okay, of course, most likely "not for the heck of it," for a purpose. Okay, okay good people. A lot of folks lining up to take a pop at my 'for the heck of it' statement. I'm not naive. I know darn well there will be a business/financial imperative in there. But it still is rather sweet to see them just sitting and playing together without a dozen other peopl

QuoteVoodooLounge13 QuoteNilsHolgersson QuoteHairball QuoteVoodooLounge13 At their ages, they have no wiggle room to procrastinate!! Willie Nelson just turned 90 (!!!), and he still performs live, records, and releases new albums! Not saying the Stones will be doing the same when they're 90, but hope so. They might even have this "new" album finished and released by then!!!

QuoteTumblinDice76 I think we forget, not having a 2023 Tour probably pains them even more than us! Gotta let the caged animal out! A new album late 2023/early 2024 would certainly fill the Stones Fix we all need! I seem to recollect very similar points being made ten years back. 'A new album for the anniversary would be nice' Etc. We did get two new tracks of course. At the time I th

Quoteretired_dog It wouldn't surprise me if it actually turns out that the "mini-snippets" have nothing to do with the album at all. Some could be just jam tracks for Jagger to practise and showcase his harmonica skills, some could be Jagger solo tracks he's recording for fun or whatever solo project he has in mind, and Keith... well, his lonesome clip is just him checking a g

Kinda says it all about how expectations have flatlined! Now we all get excited by a few seconds of noodling/riffing/messing about by either Mick or Keith. I noodle about/mess about/riff (very badly) on guitar every day. But I sure as heck ain't gonna be producing any new album either!!

Quoteretired_dog Quotemicha063 Quoteretired_dog micha063, you're the star of this thread now! Enjoy your 15 minutes of fame! Neither I want nor I need any kind of fame. Because due to the long wait for the new album and with no news in sight, this thread is now full of bored and frustra

QuoteRocky Dijon I suppose the bigger question is who is assessing their legacy? The band has relevance primarily to a fan base that is already at or rapidly approaching retirement age. I used to believe Danny and the Juniors were correct, then I lived long enough to realize most of popular culture fails to stand the test of time. Bang on! 100%. Its all of supreme importance to the majority of

Quotefrankotero To be honest I wouldn’t of thought that many would be waiting outside. Looks almost like the 1960s. I wonder how many of those in the photograph knew who it was they were waiting for? I have seen so many situations here in London where a few people gather outside a hotel or somesuch, then others join ,all the while asking 'Who is in there?'

Yes he has written some sublime music, then he does stuff like Mull of Kintyre, Ebony & Ivory, The Girl Is Mine. So his presence alone, if he was PHYSICALLY there at all, and didn't just phon

Quotedoitywoik If they are really intending to do an old-fashioned promote-the-new-album tour (which I am rather hesitant to believe, though) and want the release of the album to coincide (more or less) with the start od the tour, we may still have to wait for some more months (which however gives us the chance to push this thread to 700 or perhaps even 750 pages, if we work on it hard enough).

Quotebv Some seem to chase other individuals here. This may be related to jealousy, disagreements from the past, or some other unknown reasons. This is unacceptable, not just morally, but also due to IORR posting rules, to constantly pest and bother other individuals. If I see more of this campaign based rhetoric from individuals, I will have to take action, i.e. delete posts and posting access.
