I just A/Bed those two versions of As Tears Go By in my editing software - they are the same take! Just sampled in slightly different places...I don't know whether this is what is on the tape or just how it was excerpted but those aren't two different takes (which is what was intimated in the news stories)...the only problem is that they nearly completely overlap - so I could only get a

Hey Folks I just wondered whether anyone managed to get a copy of the excerpts from that tape found in guy's loft last year? Samples include ‘No One Loves You More Than Me’ and different versions of As Time Goes By etc... I believe it was posted on Daily Mail site - but no longer there? Anyone grab it? Regards... FD

QuoteMrTurner Funkydrummer that merge you did of 'I'm Yours She's Mine' is excellent. It's a couple of years ago now. Have you included it into your mix of the show. The filefactory and Mega.co.nz links are dead.. any chance of a repost. Sorry for delayed response - I have started posting some of my work on my blog including Hyde Park - funkydrummerarchive.blogspot.com

I just checked Rock live again - yes Mick is playing standard tuning - so I was wrong there...so yeah, not quite Soul Survivor and It Must Be Hell - but I will introduce them as evidence for the prosecution! QuoteDandelionPowderman <but it is the same boring hammer-on "sus-thing" which they have done to death over the years both in open and standard tuning to boot!> Yep, but

I just had a look at Whip It Up on Youtube and you are correct about that "sus-thing" played in standard tuning - and perhaps there are some that I just assumed were open-G that are actually standard - so I stand corrected on that. But I also looked at Rock and a Hard Place live and I believe Mick is playing Open-G - maybe Keith is playing the middle strings open-G style but in standa

What do you mean?? Rock and a Hard Place is all open-G! The main riff, the whole song...as usual... Basically the generic and overused Stones "sound" is open-G. QuoteDandelionPowderman No, it's not all over SW. Mick might be playing open G on Rock And A Hard Place, but he isn't very audible.

OK regardless of whether it was Mick or Keith - the open-G thing is all over SW in general. SSS and HOTYH are just two - from memory Rock and a Hard Place is another, Almost Hear You Sign another...only perhaps a couple of the ballads weren't...as I said I haven't played along for a while...it is basically the Stones "sound" but they only play a couple of chord variations and

Ummm, well I haven't played along with SW for a while, but from what I remember nearly every track on that was open-G! Boring simplistic open-G riffing... In fact I have to say that it was Steel Wheels that "broke the spell" for me, because I was a teenager and had recently worked out the open-G/open tuning "secret" and it was a bit like knowing there was no Santa Claus,

Hey vancouver Have You Seen Your Mother Baby Standing in the Shadow is the Got Live London CD version - which like the previous version of Got Live I did - I tried to only use the band channel - but with this one I tried to filter out some of the fake crowd noise...and yes I believe that it is a total studio remake for the album...we know the other tracks have overdubs, but this one I don

I am having a quick listen - about 2 mins into Almost Hear You Sigh you can hear the audience start screaming spontaneously - that was World Cup... That is why Mick says at the end of the song "Is the tension getting to you out there"? He knew the crowd was distracted...and that he was competing with people watching/listening to the game in the audience. Track 3 CD2 before PIB - peopl

QuoteBeforeTheyMakeMeRun That's awful! You spend a couple hundred dollars to watch the Rolling Stones perform, and spend the whole two-hour show watching soccer (or football, whatever)? Unbelievable! Yeah, in fact when England did something in the game you could hear people cheer collectively in the audience...
