They're signing the 16 million pound contract, that's why a) they're choosing to remain sober, and b) they're not using an autopen for the job. Or maybe Keith is bidding for some items at Ron's auction.

As hilarious as it is, I'm sure it wasn't Mick Taylor's, or even Waters' idea. The guy must've just "invited himself" for a little guest spot before the gig, and they were probably too polite to say no outright to him. So once he materialised, they just laughed along and shrugged their shoulders it seems. Ben Waters' voice doesn't sound too inspiring o

QuoteErik_Snow I simply meant that getting focus on my spelling mistake would help get the attention away from yours and bliss'.....eh, bad ears, or whatever one could call it; that mistake a 1967 RS song from a 2012 song; nomatter if one have heard "Citadel" before or not. Seems that you thought it was an excellent idea of mine. As all the English I write is what I do on IORR, I

When I heard about this, it seemed to me to be a situation just as he describes it in the article. I think it's a shame that the world's ingrained distrust of Mike Love, and a story-hungry press turned it all into this nonsense "firing Brian Wilson" debacle. His version of the story makes complete sense, what with the expanding of the anniversary tour over time. The "

I don't get these silly "what are your sources, you must post quotes and photos"-type attitudes either. It's not a Khmer Rouge interrogation, just a thread about Brian Jones...

QuoteRedhotcarpet About the Neville thing. I don know abou this. Keith aint bad but Am I the only one who hears a boring production with Keith doing some easy fills here and there? Not bad but not exciting at all. Sounds like some retirement home - nothing wrong with age, just doesnt do it for me. Not meant as an insult if it moves someone else. There is probably an element of that to the album

That's exactly how these guys might've been thinking during the "ego years"! "Let's turn down Brian unless his part is necessary, and while we're at it, let us also replace Bill. Okay, Charlie doesn't seem to meddle too much or ask for any songwriting credits, but keep an eye on him anyway"...

Good on him for saying that anyway. I myself am enjoying his positive outlook, as evidenced in the Aaron Neville promo video. He seems to be a content old geezer recently, quite at ease with himself, and therefore able to compliment others!

QuoteChrisM Wasn't offended, I was just curious as to the relevance of white and black... The first thing I also thought when I saw this picture is "look at all those young white faces in the seats, strange how he no longer had a black audience by then". And that is the dark horrifying story of how race got brought into it!

Quoteliddas Loved it when released, then it got a little on my nerves, now I love it again. I love how he resolves the chorus (1.40 etc.): it has depth C That's my favourite part of the song as well - the "get me outta here, should be clear" bit. Good ballad this, in fact I quite like all of Keith's Tom Waits-like ballads (unlike everyone else it seems!). I don'

So let's suppose Teddy answers, "I talked to Pierre or Don Was and they told me or I spoke with Ivan Neville and Keith had just told him" and then the individual never gives Teddy info again or gets cut off or fired themself. It'd be a nice idea if they released the two new songs on 7" for those of us who don't want another compilation, but I imagine it'll just be part of the super deluxe edition or whatever (the 7" that is). Although knowing this band, they'd probably release two of them - one new song backed with "Angie", another with "Miss You", ha ha! The co

Amazing news - above and beyond all expectations. Would love to pay top dollar for this unique new compilation, after all it's been ten years already since the last one covering the exact same ground. (Two new songs to download illegally or via itunes, that's all)

I share IrelandCalling4's view all the way! One of the best uptempo tracks on ABB, and sounds less "committee-written" than many other recent Stones rockers. As IrelandCalling said, it has a genuine energy about it (as does Rough Justice), and I love the urgency of this recording. Another quality all too rare in the post-'80's Stones, but certainly present here! They don&

None of them "suck" as such, I mean they contain classic music from the Rolling Stones after all! I guess in 2012 they are no different to you making a compilation / playlist yourself though. Their cover art is no reason to buy 'em, if I am correct they are pretty sparse (though "No Stone Unturned" has that awesome Jumpin' Jack Flash photo as its cover image). I

Imagine is a deservedly celebrated song which will outlive any "but Lennon was this, Lennon was that, how can he write 'imagine no possessions'" -type criticisms. I'm sure that as long as people listen to songs, they'll be listening to this one. It just seems to move more people than most songs do.

I like that excerpt from "Fab", too. I guess McCartney really couldn't take the slightest myth-busting criticism. I can only think of Lennon, Johns and Nigel Godrich being like that around him. Glyn Johns' comments are very astute, it would be even more interesting to see the unedited version f his interview.

Quotewhitem8 tomk, good for you! Yes, Yoko is a very creative and thrilling visual artist. She has some amazingly simple concepts, that are naive, innocent, and childlike, yet very compelling. I went to see her give a lecture in the 80's and it was quite amazing. She brought out a large Ming Dynasty vase, put a blanket over it, then smashed it to smithereens. Then she asked all of us in the

Those Decca compilations aren't too imaginative, but I got to know "Citadel" through the Solid Rock album. This song and "All Sold Out" among the more well-known ones were a great introduction to the more unhinged, experimental '60's side of the Stones, making that compilation a pretty good one (by accident?).

Quotesteffiestones Actually he looks rather cool indeed in this photo, trimmed white beard and all.. Representing Southern Rock! So there goes that line of criticism I guess. Anyway, he is the Stones' musical director, much more than just their piano player. I imagine he needs his sample-based keyboard in order to fulfil the variety of sounds / timing directions etc that his role d

I think it's good that he had decided to retire (for now), whatever his reasons. It goes to show that he is not governed by ego, trying to flog a public persona in his old age. It'd be exciting to hear new work from him, but I'd hope he is different enough from some of his peers to stay off the tour treadmill, doing the songs "we all love". He's been there, done that

QuoteDoxa The moral of story is like it has always been that even though his mind doesn't remember the songs, his fingers do. So when the song actually starts he will play it alright, all the same. But what makes this story not so funny after a decade or so, is that we have had several examples that he actually can't remember the songs, and is sometimes totally lost. But I never hear

QuoteTippyToe May isn't doing anything for the environment, conservation, or anything that's threatened. What he is doing is animal rights extremism and his comments show he would love to have it imposed on everyone. QuoteGumbootCloggeroo I've never liked him. I started to not like him even more ever since his appearance at the Concert For NYC after 9/11. How about that song though? It's a contest between this and Paul McCartney's "Freedom" for the lamest attempt at uplifting the human race through music on the night. I mean, flicking your cigarette is one thing, but the song!

The Stones probably had no interest in playing some bulls**t Olympics ceremony, and getting themselves tight for something like that. They seem to like to do shows their own way, whereas McCartney likes to get some attention at any old multi-artist event. I think only obsessives could honestly think Mickey Jaguar was having a dig at his mate. Besides, I reckon half of K.R.'s problem is c
