It's also D-Day. And of less historical importance, it's my birthday. I'll be at the Dallas show that night, so it should be a great birthday. I don't know if they'll do anything special (for Satisfaction, not my birthday obviously, though they SHOULD), but I can't see them not mentioning it. It's their most famous song, and they're going to be playing

Was watching the local news on the Dallas ABC affiliate, and they said the Rolling Stones are going to be invading North Texas this weekend. Mick Jagger, Ian Stewart and the whole gang. That's some breaking news indeed.

Quotebrokecollegestudent I'm experiencing that currently. Columbus was amazing last night - it was my first show and I am hoping it's not my last!! Doesn't help that I'm crunching numbers and doing economics homework right now. I'm ready for another concert and am seriously thinking about Pittsburgh but it's doubtful. How was Hang On Sloopy? I haven't heard i

I've been to quite a few concerts where I've gone with people but we didn't have seats together, or at a festival I left the group and took off to get to the front of the stage while they hung out on the lawn. It's a concert, everybody's singing and dancing, it's too loud to talk, so it doesn't matter who you are or aren't with. At my first Stones show I

QuoteRollin' Stoner I LOVE that shirt. I saw that on somebody in one of those pictures from the JFK '78 show and wanted one so bad. Somebody in that thread told me they had one, was that you?

QuoteDarin75 Mine would be a shirt from the Cotton Bowl 1975 That's awesome, you have a pic of it? I wish I had gotten to see The Stones at the Cotton Bowl. I saw some football games there though, I went to the Cotton Bowl Classic a lot growing up. I was at both of the Notre Dame/Texas A&M games in '93 and '94. '94 is when they last played there, but I was only about

I'm kind of the opposite. I usually have a little after-glow after I've been to a show I've been looking forward to and enjoyed. The show is still fresh on my mind, I might listen to some songs they played at the show that I hadn't listened to in a while on my own or something. And just listen to a lot of them in general, because I'm still pumped from the show.

I saw The Flaming Lips back in 1994. At the time it seemed like I was going to see them after they became famous. Because they'd been around for a little while but they'd just started getting some serious radio play with She Don't Use Jelly. But in hindsight that wasn't nearly as famous as they'd become after The Soft Bulletin and all the mainstream success of the 00&#

Love that San Diego poster. Unfortunately, judging by the poster with all the different logos, the AT&T Stadium poster is going to be some Dallas Cowboys themed bullshit.

Quotesmokeydusky Has anyone been able to purchase only the two new CDs or do you need to order all three? They've made it where you can't. They held out a track on the 2nd and 3rd disc, so if you want all the tracks you have to buy the complete Super Deluxe download.

Quotemr_dja For some reason, both Amazon & Google Play seem not able to let you buy individual songs over 10:00 in length. I don't think it really has to do with length of tracks, and more to do with trying to get people to buy the whole thing. In much the same way that they're trying to get people to buy the Super Deluxe Box just to get the Leeds Disc, on the digital front th

Quotetumblingdice Seems to be a great mix, much better than the Brussels release. Taylor is just right and Keith still right up there too. But LIV and SCB on disc 2 are perfect. Good. I love Brussels, but it's irritating how low in the mix Taylor is a lot of the time. So you think it sounds better than the bootleg? It's kind of bass heavy, but I like that about it.

I'm not really all that into more recent concerts. I mean, I like watching/listening them when they happen, but they're not something I go back and listen to much. I mainly listen to '69-'82 for live stuff. But I really enjoyed the Light The Fuse bootleg. At the time I was a bit letdown. There had been lots of rumors/hope of a possible El Mocambo release, and here they we

QuoteTurner68 As a newcomer to IORR I have to say I'm surprised at the near-hero worship of Mick Taylor, who in my mind was a great live solo player but never quite gelled with the band after the 69-70 tour, and the nearly complete absence of discussion of Brian Jones. Brian - like Mick, Keith, Bill, and Charlie - was a true innovator, helped created rock-n-roll as we know it, and consta

I have a sneaking suspicion there's no code, that it's just a gimmick to sell merch with postal codes on them and albums that have zippers.

It would be more interesting if there were some deeper meaning. As Zip Codes make a pretty boring tour gimmick, even if it does somewhat tie into an album cover in a very roundabout way.

QuoteMr1970 The Avett Brothers in Raleigh!!!!! They are one of the best "new" bands in the last 10 years. They will rock it in their home state. My two favorite bands, one night. They are high energy, extremely talented singer/song writers and who rock it out!!! Glad you're excited. Getting and opener and headliner you're actually both excited about is a rare thing. I&

Quotejumpontopofmebaby QuoteNoCode0680 We don't need any openers in Texas. We have a 162 foot wide HD TV in there, just put on L&G, Some Girls Live In Texas or some Dallas reruns. No! We want ZZ Top in Texas. and they are open that night. I don't really care for them much, but I would actually turn up to see them.

November 1, 1997 - Texas Motor Speedway - Fort Worth, TX. I was 17 at the time, and I was still discovering a lot of The Stones stuff, but they were already one of my favorite bands. I forget what the deal was exactly, but I think all the tickets started out as general admission, then right before the show they decided to do assigned seats. So you had to show up the day of the show to trade in

I'm pretty sure just about anything most people consider fun, George considers immature. Anybody remember the classic SNL sketch "George F. Will's Sports Machine"? Dana Carvey perfectly portrays what a downer this guy is. Here's a link to it, couldn't get it to embed. video:

Quotetmccool1 Bought mine today because I spaced it out yesterday and paid $13.99. I think I got the last one. Collectors have to have everything, don't we? Already it's on eBay going for $25-$30. Tom Is that with tax or did you get it somewhere other than Best Buy? By the way, it was weird going into Best Buy yesterday. I haven't been inside one for maybe 1-2 years.

QuoteTitle5Take1 More T-shirts are sold in Large than other sizes. Incidentally, the rapper fashion of too-large clothes comes from prison wear. When a new prisoner is issued clothes, the clerk knows that if the clothes are too big the prisoner might not come back for a refitting, which he'll more likely do if they're too small. Same with laceless shoes. Prisoners are forbidden shoelace
