ESQUIRE MAGAZINE (1985): "Do you like Sinatra?" MICK JAGGER: "Hate him." ESQUIRE: "Why?" JAGGER: "He's not much of a role model, is he? I don't like his music very much, either."

Dangerous Beauty reminds me of Back to Zero (not a compliment). Undercover of the Night was inspired by William Burroughs' novel Cities of the Red Night. I wonder if it was much read in Argentina.

In the Stones' smartphone app under "Exclusive Videos" see the category "Presented by Citi" with videos from their "50" tour. I was already a Citi customer so, frankly, when I had the option to use their exclusive window to get great seats I wasn't going to turn up my nose, and got great seats for both Anaheim shows. Some might think it infra dig of the Sto

Jay Leno said he'd tell his parents "Sting was on the show today" and they'd say "Who?" so he ended up telling them Gary Cooper was on and they'd ooh and aah.

QuoteMore Hot Rocks wow is that guy nervous or what? I think he was so nervous because he was thinking, "How do I get Keith to play the guitar on camera? And keep him doing it?" And he succeeded.

I'd argue their voices are quite interchangeable just by the fact that Lennon and Jagger (successfully) sang some of the same Chuck Berry songs: 1) CAROL 2) MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE 3) SWEET LITTLE SIXTEEN to name a few.

I love it and have listened to it regularly since it came out. One YouTube comment said something like, "It came on the radio and I wondered who it was and tracked the song down on YouTube and and saw it was the Stones and thought, `Oh, only a veteran band could pull this off.'" I loved reading that. If I run across A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD on TV I'll tune in toward the end j

Great to see. On 5-string near the end Keith wasn't quite playing Brown Sugar and not quite Start Me Up and I wondered: Why not go ahead and play more than an approximation, but then figured he was sparing the guy from hassling with permissions and royalties. Just leave the riff neither here nor there!

Three on the guitar solo alone on Keith's TROUBLE (not Stones, I know) not including the acoustic in the back. Maybe a guitar "triple."

It's almost a companion piece to Lonely at the Top. Although maybe Mick has met enough aspiring actresses he wasn't thinking of one song when he wrote the other.

Rock stars and movie stars are notorious in the publishing world for failing to deliver acceptable book manuscripts. An article I read on the topic said Rex Harrison was signed to write his autobiography and, after a long time, his agent finally turned in the completed manuscript...of about 20 pages. The publisher said to the agent, "What the hell is this?" The agent said, "It will

Doesn't exactly count, but Mick said UNDERCOVER OF THE NIGHT was influenced by William Burroughs's novel CITIES OF THE RED NIGHT. And obviously Mick borrowed that title in part: CITIES OF THE RED NIGHT/UNDERCOVER OF THE NIGHT.

Mick spent a week in a remote Indian village about 10 years ago to explore some nearby ruins, and he said nobody recognized him for about five days, after which he rounded a corner when a busload of teachers from Mumbai were unloading and they all recognized him. He said it was a shock to be suddenly famous again. (I read this in—I think—MOJO.)

Here's the exchange referred to above from UNCUT: UNCUT: "Do you compartmentalize when you write: this is a Stones song, this is a solo song? Does it work like that?" KEITH: "No, no. That way, I can't think. I just write the songs. If the Stones were ready to record around the same time...Some of them were actually hanging around, ideas from while the Stones were st

QuoteStoneage I wonder if Sir Michael is the only 72-year-old in the world who still likes to go to discos and nightclubs? I've talked to people in that age range who want to go to such clubs but get frowned at by others there, so don't go. Celebrity lends its own cachet.
