I went both nights in DC. Although my purchased tickets for the second night were in the 400 level, my buddy and I were able to sneak down to the floor and saw the show from about the 25th row. Yowsah! That second night was as good a Stones show as I've seen (22 total).

Meet the Beatles. My mom bought it for me in 1964, when I was four. I took it to nursery school for show and tell, but the teachers wouldn't play it. They said it was inappropriate.

Quotedcba The Ramones : Mosrite + Marshall. Live, definitely. But by their 4th album Road to Ruin, they expanded their sound significantly in the studio with guitar leads (played by Ed Stasium) and later added a dash of hardcore (e.g., Warthog).

The Allman Brothers Band, although they drifted into a more countryish sound in 1973-76 when a certain pianist named Chuck took the place of one of the greatest guitarists that ever lived, and then returned to the original sound. However, one could play their first album (1969), Shades of Two Worlds (1991), and the most recent studio album, Hittin' the Note (2003), without much of a dif

Maybe this will cause the removal of his Parrothead drivel from the NO Jazzfest schedule. One can only hope.... No, I don't wish ill on the man personally, but I cannot stand anything about his music. It'd be a damn shame if Aretha cancelled twice and Parrottwat went on.

I play several stringed instruments with a modicum of proficiency and wail on the harp. I've sung in bands off and on for 35 years.

I'm reminded of a lead from an old Rolling Stone article from about 1974 on Carly Simon, about a year after No Secrets came out (the one with the erect nipple cover and You're So Vain). The lead went something like: Ben Taylor has it made. All he has to do is cry, and Carly Simon will put her breast in his mouth. The rest of us could scream, cry, beg, and plead, but Carly Simon

The Arena disc is a bit sloppy early on, but gets a lot better once they hit their stride. I was lucky enough to have attended that show.

The few Motorhead ballads (Don't Let Daddy Touch Me, Lost in the Ozone) are cringe-inducing. Screw versatility, Motorhead should be fast and loud all the time. When they stick to what they do best, Motorhead kicks serious ass.

The T-Bone Burnett Treatment sounds mighty similar, no matter who the named performer is. Muddy bottom end, heavy atmospheres, etc. Even so, this new Gregg Allman album is mighty tasty.

The original Allman Brothers Band may have been the best electric small group of any kind ever produced by the United States. Fillmore East and the deluxe Eat a Peach are absolute musts. Because of death and disfunctionality, they've been through many lineup changes, including 1973-76, when a little known pianist named Chuck Leavell was with them. But the current lineup (which still has

I've seen both Jagger and Iggy a bunch of times, and I'm big fans of both of them. But I'm not willing to go on record as stating that no one is a better frontman than Iggy F-cking Pop! There might be some that are/were his equal, but no one tops Iggy Pop. Yes, Rollins is a mere mortal, but he speaks truth here.

Quotekeefriffhard4life Quoteab Civil War and a few others kicks ass. The best songs would have made one really good CD. Use Your Illusion was the beginning of the end. Once Axl fired Izzy, GnR was toast. Then we waited. And waited. And after 15 years got ... the randid, overblown t-rd known as Chinese Democracy. In six and a half years of living with my wife and blasting music in the s

I'd concentrate on The Yes Album, Fragile, Close to the Edge and Yessongs. Avoid everything else. The live set, Yessongs, is the best thing they ever did. The songs come to life onstage more than they ever did through Eddie Offord's sterile production of the studio albums.

Quoteskipstone Nothing wrong with hot chicks now... besides, no one said you had to be "smart" to go to a Stones show. Hey, hot chicks rule. Hell, I'm convinced that hot chicks make the world go 'round. Look carefully up in the sky, what's spinning that globe? An Amazon extraterrestrial. Really.

Wyman has his share of mistakes in Rolling with the Stones. He's got them playing Let It Bleed regularly on the '70 European Tour, when it was never played onstage until '81. He's got them playing Some Girls, Johnny B. Goode, Fool to Cry, Memory Motel, Get Off of My Cloud, and It's Only Rock 'n' Roll occasionally on the '78 US Tour, none of which were eve
