I believe Keith does the best job. It carries on the melody of the song, which is Respectable. Ronnie is next, and Mayer is last. He plays way too many notes, and it is a solo that could be played with just about any other fast paced rock song. The Keith style is easily recognizable, and always very good.

This is an informal survey of the solo performances of three very talented and famous rock guitarists. Please refer to the YouTube video entitled The Rolling Stones With John Mayer-2012. Listen to Respectable played first by John Mayer, Ronnie Wood, then Keith Richards. I think my choice is the obvious one, but I am not going to say who I like best, for fear it may influence the survey.

I much prefer indoor concerts to outdoor events. Many years ago I saw The Grateful Dead outdoors, and before the main event came up, I wished I were dead in 100 degree weather and high humidity. More recently we saw the Stones at Churchill Downs and it rained almost constantly. The sound was very bad, and with not enough volume. This is sort of funny. We took with us two large black plastic ba

The song is I Can't Be Satisfied, Has this song ever appeared on one of the Stones albums ? If it is I cannot find it. I heard a rendition on YouTube, and was sort of a warm up song before a live concert. Mick Jagger is seen in the video playing a mean slide guitar. Muddy Waters and Johnny Winter have a video playing this song, and the chemistry is amazing. This is a great blues song.

I am now about two thirds of the way through the book Me Elton John, by Elton John. Already I have heard Elton say at least three negative things about Keith. While Elton was often stoned on cocaine and alcohol, he complained of Keith being so stoned one time that he could hardly move. He said Keith was very upset that Lion King had outperformed Voodoo Lounge in terms of sales. He also said he

Today I saw a Netflix movie entitled Let It Snow. It was not a bad movie and featured the relationships between a number of teenage boys and girls. One scene depicts the young hip hop male star sharing a Stones song he liked a great deal with the young lady's dad. The father then proceeded to do a spot on imitation of Jagger strutting around the stage. The song was 100 Years Ago, one of

I think people are generally more politically correct now than before and would be hesitant to criticize them too harshly. I believe that the percentage of senior citizens has increased substantially too, making people think twice before saying something harsh. Also, they see many older rock groups still touring, such as Cindy Lauper, Rod Stewart, and ZZ Top. People are used to this kind of thi

I have been following the Stones for over 40 years, including the records, several concerts, press releases and opinion pieces. I can remember, for instance, reading articles that recommended that the Stones retire very soon, as they were over the hill and foolish looking on stage. These criticisms took place when they were in their thirties and have continued for years. It would appear the Sto

I just saw the new movie, Once Upon a Time-in Hollywood, with Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio. This was a strange movie, and way too long, but it did feature this old song by the Stones, Out of Time. I had almost forgotten about it. Here is another issue. Because I have not been able to see the Stones in a long time, could several people comment on the quality of the recent performances. D

I just saw Norah Jones on June 19 in Charleston, WV. What a beauty and a beautiful voice. That was the first time I saw a comedian as an opening act. Has everyone heard Keith and Norah singing Love Hurts. They harmonize well. They must be great pals, as Keith has his arms around her as they sing, and she seemed to be liking it as much as he.

To see and hear the best version of Love in Vain, go to YouTube and type in Rolling Stones Stripped Love in Vain. Imagine Robert showing up at the train station, in a happy mood to pick up his wife and new baby, only to be told that both had recently passed away. The last lines acknowledge tremendous grief and guilt and fears he was losing his mind .

This is the name of a Netflix movie, just recently released. It is a tribute to Robert Johnson, who was greatly admired by all of the Rolling Stones, and also Rod Stewart, Eric Clapton, and many other musicians. Robert was a tragic figure who was abused by some of his relatives and passed from one caregiver to the next when he was a young boy. He mainly taught himself how to play the guitar. He

I was watching The Bigger Bang from Texas the other day, and I realized that the Stones, and many other rock bands, seem to play almost all their numbers at a pace that is too frantic and unnecessary. They sound as if they have been speeded up electronically. I wonder if the Stones are so excited to be playing a large audience that they are unaware of the pace they are setting. Could the S

I am getting the impression that those who want the music cranked up louder are younger people, say, younger than 40. And maybe those who want the volume at lower levels are 40 and older. jenyk said that if you think it is too loud you start to be old. Does that mean that if you continue to attend very loud concerts, you will forever remain young, and never grow old. You could end up old a

I have been to a few concerts in my life, maybe twenty total, spread out over a number of years. Just a few weeks ago, I saw Elton John put on a dazzling performance at the KFC YUM ! Center, an indoor arena. Having seen the Eagles and Rod Stewart there not too long ago, I expected a reasonable volume level. The music was so loud at the Elton John concert that my entire body seemed to be vibrat

Any one seen this tv series, which is on AXS TV ? Ronnie basically interviews older rock stars and plays and discusses with them their favorite songs, either by them or other artists. Last night, Ronnie and friend played If You Can't Rock Me. He sipped on a lot of liquid which could have been alcoholic. If so, I feel sorry for his liver. All in all, I think he does a credible job as ho

And the answer is I Can't Quit You, Baby, with Eric Clapton. The interplay between Richards, Eric, and Ronnie is incredible. Charlie is as usual steady as can be. I have heard few comments about this number, and would like to know what other fans are thinking. I love it.
