What is with the Stones and taking a plunge into the archives? Are they lazy, is it philosophical, arrogance? At this point it's frustrating, I don't mean to be cold, but it's not like their new albums sell much anymore. I think a well though out archival series would get huge press and interest. I mean they have to be impressed by the Dylan and Beatles stuff, don't they?

Yes, "No Expectations" came to mind. Would have fit in that period in the late sixties before Elvis went totally Vegas. Good call.

Springsteen Bruce Springsteen Just could never relate to the "Jersey boy/common man" theme and then what the hell was "Nebraska" about? Now he thinks he's a latter day Woody Guthrie. I did not think his music rang true once he become huge. Sorry, just never got Bruuuuce! PS..and I met him once when I worked in a record store (Darkness Tour). Very nice guy, m

Stones are my favorite band, Elvis is my fav solo, but never did the twain... Elvis did McCartney/Lennon and Dylan turning in ok versions of "Something" and "Hey Jude" and a really nice version of "Tomorrow is a Long Time". What Jagger/Richards composition should have El taken a crack at? I'm racking my brain, there has to be some common ground since the

I think it was on Johnny Winter And "Live". Mostly blues covers, but god only knows where my copy is anymore! If I'm remembering correctly it had a killer version of "Good Morning Little School Girl". Also, not a good version of JJF which is probably why it has not been mentioned, but Frampton does a version on "Comes Alive". Is it still the best selling

Hey,nobody has listed Brittany Spears "Satisfaction"! I've never heard it, but this topic got me thinking about a documentary where Mick Jagger is approached by a cute little girl and she mentions that her favorite artist is Spears and Mick is actually very complimentary about Spears' version (I did not detect any sarcasm). I don't think I'm dreaming this, but I ca

If you have "Hot Stuff" you gotta have that cool phased guitar to make it sound right. Harvey Mandel anyone?

Miss Amanda Jones Blue Turns To Grey All About You (better than doing a cover of "Nearness of You") if Keith is up for it. Run Rudolf Run during the season Fantasy "Hand of Fate" with Wayne Perkins guesting so the guitar sounds right.

I think the litmus test is, have you been embarassed for the Stones? I can't really say that I have (although Keith's croakin' vocals are getting close!) Even the silly 80's videos were a product of their time. Of course "Undercover"is cheesy now, but I kind of thought it was cool when I first saw it! I think jumpin the shark implies that the product is never the

Had Sticky Fingers and Black and Blue on random in the car. Knockin' and Negrita sound like a very nice hard latin rave up back to back!

I would like Mick Taylor to guest as lead guitarist on one song that actual has the classic sound and a timeless quality. If they did a cover, I think they should take a crack at Stevie Wonder. Jagger's voice would work great on "Living for the City", but the narrative wouldn't make sense for a white guy. Maybe add an edge to "I Was Made to Love Her"?
