The only debatable thing are the "fast" drums on "Scarlet, Scarlet ...". The other parts (intro and outro) have been improved compared to original release.

Quotemicawber This could have been a much bigger hit than Angie. But for unknown reasons (maybe that Mick wasn't involved) it was shelved and never worked on it again until now. If this had been given the "some more sessions" treatment, it would have become a really great song. The hook is great, the rest is chaotic, sloppy and boring. Don't like it much. An ok demo, as Cri

QuoteStoneage Okey, videos aside (they are just promotion tools). I would rank Scarlet first among the three new songs before Criss Cross and Living in a Ghost Town. Sure, it's outtake material but it has a good hook. And almost anything from that period is better than the post 83 era. Oh no. I like Between the rock and a hard place, you got me rocking, out of tears, saint of me, out of

Quotegeorgie48 Listened to it several times and the chorus reminded me of something. Tortured my brain and .... picked "Dancing In The Light" from "that other bonus CD". The rhythm of Scarlet's chorus is uptempo in comparison with that of "Dancing", but .... ah well, who cares. We spoiled Stones fans have again fun discussing and enjoying (or not for some) ano

Quotemarquess I am listening right now to the 2009 Remastered Edition of "Goats Head Soup". It is very bad! Extremely LOUD. Just to bang the ears...? It is very tiring after a while. Yes these remasters are highly compressed, bad dynamics ....

2009 Remasters are the worst of all the releases. No dynamics, artificial sound. I avoid them whenever possible.

QuoteGasLightStreet The more I listen to it the better it gets. It's the best thing they've released in years. In terms of being modern, it's better than Undercover Of The Night, which is a pretty killer song, really. I think what makes it work fantastically is that it's not IN YOUR FACE, it's got a lot of room and a great melody. Right. It is simply great new S

QuoteBluesstone Where to begin.. I can't state enough how happy it makes me to hear a brandnew Stones Song, that is that good, catchy and relevant in 2020! Since I got the word on the upcoming release here, I'm in a state of happy excitement. Really love the song, and have been listening to it constantly over the past 48 hours. I think it's sounds very contemporary, but Ston

Quotelaertisflash Nice song, IMO. I love it's mixed "mood"... I think it's basically a reggae tune, but there are also soul and funk elements... No only IMO. It is a very good songs with classic Stones sound, fresh lyrics, solid guitars, nice tempo changes and drumming and inspiring singing by Mick. We are lucky fans!

There ain't nothing bad with inspiration from older Stones songs. Of course they are working with known tools and that is what fans usually like about them. The new song is very good and although primary idea is probably Mick's the others have contributed too, can be heard. Solid guitar licks, great drumming, nice tempo changes. A pleasant surprise in lockdown times that has Stones&

Quotebv I assume they did a base track with Mick, then it was passed on to the other members, playing back on it. Then some minor sound was added. I assume a certain tree farmer in Macon, Georgia did some work on it too. Like Mick said, without Chuck Leavell, no Stones. This was not a performance to be evaluated technically. It was a performance telling the world The Rolling Stones support WHO

Quotebv From the IORR news: The Rolling Stones Tour 2020 in danger due to the coronavirus The coronavirus COVID-19 is today declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization, see the report WHO characterizes COVID-19 as a pandemic. With the current and soon to come extreme limitations in local as well as global travel and crowds, it seems unlikely that The Rolling Stones will b

Just listened to Desert trip Mixed emotions and it is not bad for a song that has not been played live for such a long time. Mixed emotions is not great, but not bad either. Has a catchy chorus, a little "predictable" verse. Of course 80 and 90s Stones are not the same as they were in 70s. But listening to voodoo or steel wheels is still nice and kind of refreshing for a Stones&

Thanks for reactions. Given the number of shows and possibility of only partial engagement, it still seems reasonable. Obviously, if there are some personal issues that can prevent it then it won't happen. In general, it can be a cooperation, not competition amongst Mick Taylor and other band members, he can be a guest player on selected songs these times. That way it won't interfer

Streaming is good for casual listening of various old and new songs that I would probably not buy (or buy when they are released). Owning a CD or 24 bit recording is better for an album I want to have forever.
