Quotediane d according to rock scully's book, "living with the dead", i don't think sonny was at altamont. at least that's how i interpret it. that weekend there was a meeting of the HA governing board, which, i would think, would include sonny who was president of the oakland chapter and one of the power players in the HA. again according to rock, most of the HA who s

Quotemstmst Side note: Last Saturday night stumbled onto a movie on the independent film channel (IFC) called, 'Grand Theft Parsons'. This is a fictionalized account of the theft of the body of Gram by his manager who granted Gram's wish to be creamated in the Joshua Tree desert. It is hilarious, and I recommend it - anyone who's a fan will get a kick out of it. Yes, quite h

Hey kinoliksmith, if you really love her you will not let some stupid ole restraining order keep you away from her. Remember, your love is stronger than paper. But take some chloroform and duct tape with you just in case. And remember, the deeper you dig the grave, the more it shows how much you love her. Good luck!

Well most of us have all heard the version with Keith singing lead...wasn't this basically a scatch vocal for Mick? Leads me to believe that Keith wrote the whole damn thing and maybe even recorded the rythym tracks without Mick even being there, as Mick was so busy shooting Performance.

Is this the show where Keith changes guitars during the opening number Not Fade Away? Seems like his guitar was in the wrong tuning, or broken string or something?

I always wondered how Keith was handed a guitar so out of tune for this number, especially for a concert that was being filmed as such an expense. Here's how I do it, hopefully in better tune Prodical Son 01 Track 1.wma (2693 K

QuoteMCDDTLC I know this - he actually KILLED one of his wife's and got away with it!! The Stones shouldn't have anything to do with this BASTARD!!!! MLC Well, he denies it and claims that she ran away. So I wrote a song about it called "She run Off"

QuoteSlim Harpo Elmo is right: you want to tune to G or maybe easier at first open E. Just tune up your A string to B and your G string to G#. There you go. You can play 6 note chords. Work on your intonation (being in tune) but damping unwanted notes isnt such a problem in open tunings. Disclaimer: If you have an extremely expensive guitar don't do this as some people think the extra te

Well lets just suppose that Ronnie simply is not in love with Jo anymore, and he would gladly turn over half his estate. He would still be worth millions- a lot more than 99.999% of us. And if some young hottie makes him happy, even if just for the time being, what the hell. Live while you're alive, I say. Jo and family will be well taken care of no matter what, and she's still youn

If Keith working on the solo had been in the film the rumour that Clapton did the solo never would have gotten started.

Quoteryanpow the GREEN tabaskeeee is really good. The green Tabasco sauce is a complete abomination..like "New Coke" and Billy Preston doing a mini-set in the middle of a Stones concert.

Amen Edith Grove. Tabasco is the sauce by which all others are judged. It is the Rolling Stones of sauces.

Does anyone remember the article in, I think it was Time or maybe People, that had a review of this show. The reviewer described the singing as "barnyard vocals". I saw the 2nd S.F. show a few weeks later-my first Stones concert, and was completely mesmerized, they rocked so hard! 50K plus people jumping up and down and dancing like crazy. I thought Candlestick was gonna crumble. A

Quotewith sssoul I thought it was now impermissible to use symbols in an IORR post. The jury would want to see you flogged. And popcorn is bad for your teeth. As is a Telecaster to the face.

Quotemelillo all i know is that if Keith did that to me whether i was wrong or not for running on stage, there would have been legal action on my part And you would have lost. And no lawyer in his right mind would take your case on a contingency; you would have to pay a substantial retainer. And if I were lucky enough to be Keith's counsel, I would shred you on cross examination, and the

I saw both Sacramento shows, and have a boot of the second show. They were both great, even the first for which mick was sick. Keith was really on. Poweful guitar sound. Woody mostly AWOL, but did play well for YGTS.

Quotepmk251 Memorial Auditorium, Sacramento. Keith got zapped there in '65, I believe. We're not too far from Altamont, little over an hour or so. Hey pmk251, I used to live just down the street from there on F Street, right accross the street from Dorothea Puente... remember her? I've seen some great shows at the Memorial Auditorium. John Fogerty, Neil Young did an acoustic

How about on the studio version of SFM where Mick sings "yeah" on one track and "no" at the same time on another track after the second "sing in a rock 'n roll band" line? Also, on JJF doesn't the tambourine drop out for about 30 seconds part way through? I read somewhere that the tape split, causing this.

Q: Why are the Stones going on another world tour? A: So Mick can see his kids. Q: Why did Angelina Joli adpot so many kids? A: So she always has one to match her shoes.

As duly noted by sssoul, surely Keith would have mentioned meeting Elvis in print, and would probably have continuously exaggerated the story over and over to the point where he and Elvis went on a week-long fried peanut butter and banana sandwich bender. Like the cock 'n bull story where Keith met Muddy Waters, who was painting ceiling of Chess studios.

Well, the Stones encouraged me to learn to play guitar, which I have been doing religiously for over 25 years now, and I still play in bands and write original tunes (have a gig this weekend) and have an extensive guitar collection (Fenders, Gibsons, Taylors, Martins) and I have faithfully avoided responsibility and continue to live a debauched lifestyle like I'm in my 20's. So I'

I would agree that trying to compare Keith and Gilmore is like comparing apples to oranges, but I think most of us experienced guitar players would agree that there is at least a certain minimal skill level required to get your point across, and that both Keith and Gilmore are way past this skill level. Below this certain skill level lies suckiness. One of Keith's strengths is that he doesn

Punk, country, disco, and good ole R & R all on one record. No wonder its the Stones best selling non-comp record. It only sounds better with time to me. Of course, you've got to listen to it on vinyl for best reults!
