It all depends. On tour it is possible if you have a backstage pass and request it in the venue. But at the hotel it's always complicated, especially these days with the Stones. Personally I've only met Ronnie, who was incredibly nice and even draw a tiny face of himself with my autograph. But again, with major rockstars always complicated in hotels: Bono said to me at the Santiago Hyat

Nirvana also played at the Praça da Apotease in 1993. I was 12 years-old and on vacation with my folks and we stayed at the same hotel: the Rio Intercontinental. I got to talk with all of them and they were all very nice to me -a 12 year-old chilean boy with the smile Nirvana t-shirt on, basically.

Greg, if you are further interested, get the excellent biography from Brian Boyd (two volumes). Best book about him I've read. And by the way, it was the Montreux Palace where they all stayed, I seem to remember (that is to say, Mr. Nabokov and the boys). with ssssoooul, Rockman and Gazza?

This is very specific stuff, but anyway... as you know, for a while in the seventies the Stones rehearsed in Montreux (rehearsals in 1972). Didn't they stay at the Grand Hotel there? After the fantastic success of Lolita deemed it impossible for him to remain in America, he chose to live at that hotel in Montreux until his death in 1978. I wonder whether they had any contact with Nabokov, as

thanks for te post. Keith looks utterly ridiculous. Has been looking ridiculous for over 10 years now, it's just that we as fans don't realize. But this is way too much. Grotesque.

Sicilian check Four Flicks out. On the "Select a Stone" version of Monkey Man there is a close-up of the sneakers, and also on Heartbreaker. I also remember reading an article on Mick's stage clothes in the New Yorker not so long ago. All his clothes are tailored especially for him and made in a special fabric, to catch the light. The designs are not necessarily exclusive, though.

She used to be cute up to the Voodoo Lounge Tour, but from BTB on she really got fat. Just remember Mick stopped to fool around on stage with her the moment she got fat. Funnily enough, both Darryl and Lisa started to get increasingly fat afther the Voodoo Lounge Tour.

It would work in a theatre show, but they don't play those ones anymore. Maybe Scorsese is smart enough to have them play it for his forthcoming film on the Stones.

Lucky day Sicilian: he has worn different models over the years, but always Nike. Up to 2005 they were always black and cross training. Sice 2005 he has also been using some colourful ones, such as various Shox models, but always Nike.

It's very odd. I am 25 years-old, have about 1.200 cd's, 600 vinyls and 300 tapes of classical, jazz and popular music and have never, ever, downloaded anything from the web. Do not own any cd-r's either. Of course that makes me a sort of ave raris - strange bird among all my mates. In London I have noticed that the amount of bookstores in Charing Cross Road and of old record sho

Yes indeed, hate to say it, but some of those guys are real criminals. Take this example: as I approached the stadium, the first control demanded that you walked holding your tickets. I saw two guys who came running really fast and stole them. The poor girls were crying desperately. Piece of advice: don't even think of bringing in anything valuable.

The most incredible one in my opinion is the one taken from the side and you can actually look at the size of his belly (see www.voy.com). He is standing beside the lifesize statue of Christopher Robin, wearing the striped t-shirt. It is very hard for me to believe those statements such as "he was getting better just before he died". I mean, look at the pictures. I think it might just b

It might be the one depicted on Terry Rawlings' book, he had a striped t-shirt on. Unbelievable belly for a 27 year-old rockstar. Am I right?

I know her sister Barbara married and had a bunch of children. But it seems to me that his relatives sort of see him as a sad memory, they have never taken part in any sort of tributes whatsoever. That's my impression. Another possibility is that they remember him privately, but from reading the biographies on Brian, one gets the impression they just don't. Overall, he seems to be f

Being very straight and less likely to fool around, it makes a point to have him since the context is humourous. I mean, it wouldn't be that much of a novelty to have Keith or Mick on it.

I browsed in Amazon.com through Adam Clayson's biography of Charlie, and he quotes him saying: "I used to play in jewish weddings, and I didn't know what the hell was going on, since I'm not jewish". So it seems he's not, actually.

I think they spoiled a bit Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out! with too many overdubs. In JJF, when the chorus comes, it sounds so much wilder when you hear the version in "Gimme Shelter". Apparently, they wanted it to sound more similar to the lp version. What do you think?

I don't dig the story of the tapes either. By then the Stones already had a worldwide reputation, so it doesn't make any sense.

Depends, actually. For the Licks Tour, Mick got most of his clothes from Buddhist Punk, a UK based company. The designs were also comercially available, but the t-shirts Mick wore were specially tailored for him with a special fabric in order to catch the light instead of the regular cotton. For this tour, some of his clothes were made by the designer of the Boston Ballet Company. See the provi
