I've now watched it and look forward to your views. My own are firstly, that people saying it's a missed opportunity to present her as an icon are wide of the mark. She is an icon, that's it. For me, the movie was more about the suffocating nature of fame, its perils - and the collateral damage done to those around the hurricane. In this case, their children. Finally, the mo

Can someone please tell me where to see the film online? Also I wanted to say that one of the, if not the most, powerful things I have read this year was Marlon's comment about the deep regret his parents shared about what they put their children through. How many of us on this page grew up idolising Keith and his way of life? It sounds as though this docu really shows the other side o

Interesting that he worked as a ski boot fitter in a resort in later years. I used to live somewhere lovelty in the Pacific Northwest and a ton of mid-ranking actors lived there, working at second jobs. You'd be surprised: for instance, one of the local physios appeared in Slap Shot (I think she kept it quiet because it was the shower scene) while one of the local realtors won an Oscar for s

I also disagree, and/but would note that part of what makes HD special for me is that Charlie and Bill are on some tracks. Also that the band members play bass on some others. I respect Darryl Jones as a player but he is not Bill Wyman. Ditto Steve. I would say they are great players, even. But Bill Wyman has enormous sensitivity and taste when he picks up a bass and was at the heart of the Stone

That;s true. You could also say Darryl played on as many Stones albums as Bill did in the 1980s (5)... TBH I have recently become turned off by their marketing machine. I still love the music, but that's about it. The music, and Keith and Ronnie as personalities.

QuotePalace Revolution 2000 I am a huge fan of UC too. And I see HD as the best since. I post very rarely but I wanted to say that this is where I end up with this album too. For me, the Stones went "off" after UC. If you listen to Nick Kent (70s rock writer) he would say they were never the same after 1986, and I can see that argument. But there are lots of places on this record wher

Yes, it's too early, but here goes... Not a fan of "Dreamy Skies" - but I can see others are. Fair enough. Some reviewers speak about a mini-slump in the middle of the album, and I can see that, but the quality of the start and finish are still better than anything after Tattoo You. BTW that is in my top 5, so high praise. Watt has done a great job all over, but maybe best in

Quotezgredzik Huge "Sticky Fingers" vibe. First sound from "Wild Horses" & string part like in "Moonlight Mile". One of the best on "HD"! Great ears. Exactly right.

Stone-cold absolute banger of a track. For me, the best thing they've done since 1981. Ear crack! Love it!

Hot take on this after 6 listens. I prefer the edited version, for me it has even more of an EOMS vibe. Also I have to say I rate this as a 7/10, alongside Angry. Best track I've heard so far off new album is Get Close, sounds like a near-classic to these ears. Depending on You sounds like a quality track of a Mick album, maybe 6-7 out of 10 for me. Big thing is that so far not a single dud.

QuoteBungo Taylor or Wood ? That is the only question that matters. An excellent question and you got me thinking. Taylor is for me one of the three best British blues guitarists of all time. So there's that. Ronnie's work outside the Stones (except 78-83) is his best work (Faces, Rod Stewart solo) for me, but on the other hand he's a much better "Rolling Stone" than

QuoteIrelandCalling4 Welcome! It's funny how time passes; I was looking at my profile recently, and saw the date I joined - over 20 years ago!! Almost every day I check this forum for news/updates/discussions. I've been checking it almost each day for over two decades! We all have our own eccentricities; I love Satanic Majesties, but also have a fondness for the most maligned of a

QuoteVoodooLounge13 Welcome!! Wow you and I will get along great! LOL My favorite album is my name sake, and though I do listen to stuff pre-Aftermath, it's mostly just singles, as one of my first purchases was The London Years, so I rarely go for the early albums. Man, it's so good to not be the only 'weird' one around here anymore! LOL I also love the latter day Stones,

haha, I love it! Glad I'm not the only one. Also I should add I'm a lot less of a fan of pre-1968 stuff - not that I don't like it. But late 70s, 80s and even 90s/00s Stones gets the attention of my ears a lot more than anything before, say, Aftermath. Thank you for the welcome! :-)
