Quotebleedingman QuoteFour Stone Walls Quotetatters You don't hear rock stars using words like "extrapolate" or "machinations" very much nowadays. Indeed. A serious lowering in standards took place after the republican/conservative revolution of the late 7Os and 80s. What an asinine statement. You people are relentless. Even a conversation about Jerry Garcia dev

I used to work at the one in La Jolla, CA. They would make all employees rotate tasks, so everyone ended up having to work on the classical/jazz side of the store, which had a glass partition so that they would hear different music from the "rock side" of the store. I hated working in classical; customers would ask me questions about jazz/classical albums and I'd be all "so

John from Paris (France, not Texas), French/Basque/Californian, first show was in Paris in 2007 (found out about it on the same day, decided what the hell, went to Stade de France without a ticket, found a cheap one outside, went in! Have gone to Stuttgart, London and Marseilles to see them, always fun. Bought plane tix for recent Pasadena and San Diego shows, missed them both because of postp

Quotewindmelody A man who choses Manson as his artist name must be a loathful idiot. This is obvious. Or a marketing genius. How do you feel about Iron Maiden? You do know that's a torture device, right?

If they don't release individual Four Flicks (namely the Olympia show!) albums and a Tattoo You reissue soon, I'mma burn my internet downloads onto CD and the Stones will not get any of my hardly earned money!

Love this song...the only Stones song I know on guitar... At one of the 2018 London shows (22nd or 25th May, can't remember) a girl walked by me with a dress with horses all over it, I asked her if they were wild horses, she laughed, she was super cute and I wished I'd asked her for her phone number!

Quotemakemeburnthecandle I say whoever gets the vaccine should get a certification within an app. Only those people would then be allowed to attend events with crowds. This sounds like hell. I don't know anyone in my entourage who wants and/or trusts these new vaccines. If this means no more Stones shows for me, so be it. I've had a great run, but no way in hell am I getting a vaccine

QuoteHairball Took me 10 years or so to jump on the cd bandwagon as I attempted to remain "old school" and pretty much stuck in my old ways in to the '90's. But then there was a release I just HAD to have which was only available on cd at the time, so I tentatively made the plunge and bought it. Haha, that's me right there! I'm a lifer...I still burn CDs and

QuoteDandelionPowderman WASP: This W.A.S.P. cover is without a doubt the BEST metal cover of Paint it Black around. It blows away Saxon's go at it. Can't believe Biff needs to look at his lyric sheet for this, blasphemy...

QuoteBig Al Regarding The Beach Boys and them possibly being the greatest American band: am I the only one who prefers their songs about cars, girls and surfing? The bulk of Pet Sounds doesn't do it for me, and I only like their late-60's singles thereafter: Good Vibrations, Darlin', Do it Again, etc. I agree, Pet Sounds is kinda like a buzzkill. Although I suggested Van Halen

A shame this forum doesn't have the very common "poll" feature. We'd be able to settle this once and for all which are the top 7. (mine would include Tattoo You, Some Girls and Goat Head Soup)

QuoteBig Al but did they have a phobia of crossing the Atlantic? I'm reading the excellent Noel Monk (manager) book Running with the Devil, apparently Dave was terrified of flying!

QuoteGasLightStreet ...he got Roth actually back in the band and Eddie pulled out some tunes they'd done for VAN HALEN and that became Tattoo and a few others on A DIFFERENT KIND OF TRUTH. It was the only song on the LP that sounded like Van Halen... I agree with most everything else except this. With this album, they got their balls back, and the guitar has the same - or very similar - en

EVH was the best, in my top 10 somewhere amongst Jerry Garcia, Yngwie Malmsteen, Hendrix, Dimebag Darrell, Randy Rhoads, George Lynch, Warren Demartini, etc. The first 6 Van Halen records are perfection. If anyone has a link where I can download the Oakland 1981 show (flac or mp3), I'd be happy to check it out! The only thing I've found is a stream of the show here:
