My first rock concert was seeing ABB in 1975. The band was really having a lot of problems - internally, with drugs, big egos, wasting money, management, etc. - but that December night in Macon, Dickie Betts set the world on fire. I saw him a few years ago and he was struggling (his son Duane was and is an excellent player). I choose to remember his blistering leads on some of my favorite

I've been a fan of John's and seen him a number of times through the years. I much preferred him being a rocker, not trying to be Woody Guthrie (ditto Bruce). He doesn't seem particularly happy or much fun to be round. That said, he's the one who took the Johnny Cougar name and played the game (sold out?). Those albums up through Big Daddy are great, afterwards, a bit hit a

QuoteDGA35 I think I posed this question several years ago. Thought he and Brian might get along. On a related note, wasn't Dave Gilmour at Knebworth 76 watching? It seems like there is a picture of David with the McCartney's at Knebworth.

Did our heroes ever have any interaction with Syd? Actually, have they ever had anything to do with the Floyd guys? Roger seems like the barrel of laughs that would love Ronnie......

All that said, for the first time Bruce concert goers, he has a number of "warhorses" ala The Stones - BTR, TR, PL, Badlands, etc. I've been fortunate enough to see him play a wide variety of his stuff - including most of Greetings. I still get a chill when that harmonica opens up "Thunder Road". Also, "Nightshift" should be dropped in favor of an origin

Yes, the soul covers section is the P-break for most.

QuoteBig Al Quotekovach QuoteBig Al If you want a very-reasonably priced electric, you cannot go too far wrong with the Squire 'Classic Vibe' line: essentially, budget-reissues of the great 60's and 70's Fenders. I have a '60's Custom Esquire' from this line. Admittedly, I don't play it very much - I prefer my acoustic for casual noodling -, but it looks lo

I know absolutely nothing of the technical aspects, I just know the album sounds muffled (for lack of a better word). Maybe dull. I love most of the songs on here, but the production leaves something to be desired. Ditto Ronnie's Gimme Some Neck. Glimmers first time out?

Quotedcba If you want to "bang" buy an electric. If Angie or WH are your thing buy an acoustic. Learning to play a musical instrument is - unless you have a natural talent - a very slow humbling and frustrating process. Then one day you discover you can play easily licks you could not play a few months before. This is a magic moment that will give you intense satisfaction. Yes,

Buy one that plays easily. Many have given up because they bought a cheap guitar that was hard to play.

Ditto what everyone has said - great songs and that voice. The Raspberries Pop Art Live is a fantastic live album.

Replace YCAGWYW with Sweet Sounds. Replace Miss You with anything (Mess It Up, maybe?). Please play Bite My Head Off. Leave SFTD, Dice, and Rambler at home. Play some more unplayed stuff. An ideal setlist, IMHO Honky Tonk Women/Get Off OF My Cloud Under My Thumb Fool To Cry or Memory Motel Angry Monkey Man Or Rocks Off Star Star Acousticish Set while sitting: Angie or Wild

Sure. Before the BB show (at 6 Flags in Atlanta), the announcement was made that Brian would be playing with the band. He was indeed there physically and sat at a grand piano - how much he played/sang is up for debate. I think this was the period without Carl. However, "God Only Knows" was played with perhaps Brian singing it. They had 2 drummers as Dennis appeared drunk. He came ou

Yes, Brian can still conjure up a good one from time to time. Several good ones on Pier Pressure. His voice isn't what it once was, but whose is (what Brian 1966 was)?

BTW, I find Brian's (and Dennis') story equally as interesting as Keith - albeit in a different way.

Wasn't "Run James Run" the original name for the song "Pet Sounds"? Brian envisioned it as a Bond theme.

As More Hot Rocks said, Billy was a major solo star in the early 70s - I think "Outa-Space" went to Number 1. "Nothing From Nothing", "Will It Go Round In Circles", and "Space Race" were also hits. He is also credited with writing "You Are So Beautiful" although Dennis Wilson claimed he wrote it. He worked with the Beatles, Stones, and Cl
