I agree with you completely. For me it's the anticipation and the hope I'll have a feed that has that moment when the lights go out the band starts playing. Get me through the first song like that and it's all just a bonus from that point on.

I've always loved reading Robert Christgau's reviews. He doesn't do song by song or anything like that and does fall in love with his own writing from time to time but he loves R&R and LOVES the Stones. I saw both bands in Atlanta recently (I just love the thought of people thinking, damn, this SOB saw YGM which is why I keep pointing this out.) Roger was great that night but if they keep it up they need to follow the Stones strategy of three or four nights between shows. I think that helps the singers immensely.
