QuoteHis Majesty QuoteRedhotcarpet QuoteHis Majesty That Freedom Highway was released in 1965, their 2nd album of that year. Stones recorded The Last Time in January 1965. Yeah and the Last time riff is not the same. There are some similarities though. Perhaps it was released as a single before. Yes it was. Check the link.

That version is a live recording, which means it may have been performed before 1965. Maybe they listened to it on the first US tours, in June 1964 and October/November 1964. Also James Brown's version of 'This May be the Last Time'

QuotehowledFor the casual listener, why they might not recognize it is because Keith is playing the riff with a Gibson fuzz box And he used that fuzz box in order to get a horn type of sound... like in 'Nowhere to Run'

Is there a thread about songs that may have inspired Jagger/Richards compositions? This is a personal one. I've always thought a part of 'Hand of Fate' sounds a bit like 'Hot Burrito No. 2' by the Flying Burrito Brothers. Just sing'the hand of fate is on me now' on top of it. Like howled said, it could have been used as a template and then Keith ad

Thanks Ross! So it wasn't the horn section but the vocals! Thank you and His Majesty for helping me. I spent long hours searching for Motown hits and girl groups but I was getting tired. Here´s my contribution... 'The last time' was based on an arrangment by a Staple Singers' song called 'This may be the last time' (actually it's a traditional gospel song

It´s not 'Dancing in the Streets'! I tell you the horn section does the same melody like 'Paint it Black'. No one knows about the speech I mention? It was given by some sort of 'insider', but I just can't remember who! It was last year I believe.

Yes! Thank you! Anyone knows about 'Paint it black'? The horn section was similar to the 'I see a red door and I want it painted black' melody. By the way, is there a thread about these kind of similarities or rip-offs? There are lots of them I'm sure!

Hello, this is my first post. Last year I had read on an internet forum about a speech given by someone (whom I can't remember... was it Andrew? Bill?) who said that 'Satisfaction' and 'Paint it, Black' were inspired by two songs from girl groups of the 50s/60s (I can't remember the names either). He even named the songs and I searched on YouTube and yes they were re
