Whilst not wishing to speak ill of the dead Derek Taylor was so far up his own backside that he couldn't be anything other than pretentious. QuoteTitle5Take1 I gave up pages into Oldham's first volume and merely skimmed the rest. His attempt at "clever" language grated on me. His memoir reminded me of (Beatles press officer) Derek Taylor's memoir. Taylor's pre

Can you give us any information about the funny handshake? Quotetomcasagranda Society is governed by "Advancement through preferment" to quote Shakespeare, and it doesn't involve freemasonry, but the psychodynamics of behaviour and making the right connection. This fear of masonry, global conspiracy theories, and Voodoo History, is absolutely ridiculous, and, above all

If David Cameron called me morally repugnant I would wear it as a badge of honour!!! Quotetomcasagranda The thing is that what Jimmy Carr has done, is what any person with any nous would have done, acting on advice of his/her accountants. An accountant is paid to limit the tax liabilities that a person has, or may incur. If Jimmy Carr, Mick Jagger, et al, turn over enough money that t

Applied to older acts at the Jubilee Concert doubtless the same media types would apply it to the Rolling Stones. It saddens me. How does it make you feel?

This thread perfectly illustrates the way this forum has gone. Too many people being too judgemental. Too many people willing to jump down other peoples throats. Too many people prone to making crass remarks. It's a toxic cocktail.

QuoteHonestman I don't know for you, but think it's time now to surface officialy these recordings. It's now or never, how I would like to hear more than 39" of "You can't judge a book by the cover" and the original tapes of the other tracks that already have surfaced. Not the big deal, just the birth of a legend. It will be a true gift for the fans. C'

Why not? I saw a guy on TV the other day who was born to play Keith - but I forget who it was.

QuoteSend It To me Its within the realm of the possible that the Stones will still be recording and playing shows in ten years and that I'll be dead in ten years. Alternately, Keith could drop any day. Why worry about tomorrow? There may not be a tomorrow. Rock on. I am not worrying about tomorrow, just speculating as to what it will be like. Based on the last 5 years I am 100%

Whatever happens over the next 18 months we are very near the end of the Stone age. How will you mark it's passing and what do you think your life will change as a result? For me I think that the post Stones age will be an extended version of the last 5 years! I intend to retire to a beach and listen to the records for the rest of my life.

Quotelynn1 the speculation is so boring. Stop. Go outside. Breathe some air. Listen to some music. Save some brain cells from this constant childish non sense of who what where and when. The only near certainty that is a fact is that the Stones will be charging money for quite a few things soon. A voice of reason in a crazy world.

Easily the best book I ever read about the Stones. Read it on holiday in 1990 when I was seriously getting into them as a band and just before I saw them live for the first time. For me it cemented their outlaw status.

QuoteMax'sKansasCity QuoteGumbootCloggeroo That's an unfortunate side effect to any message board that's been around for years. There's always going to be long-time members with a billion posts to their name that look down on new arrivals, as if their opinion is less worthy than theirs. really? that is quite alarming!

Max I never suggested that Bieber rules the world. It was an observation meaning that in the wider world was more consumed with Bieber (and other such acts) than it was by rock and roll. And at no point did I say that rock and roll sucked. I suggest you re-read.
