Wasn't very WIDE jeans popular at that time? They had a high tight waist but the legs were wide... Remember the GUL & BLA jeans in 1970's, you had to lie on the bed forcing them on, it almost hurt... of course I was too much of a geek then but I do remember everybody wearing wide legged-jeans... even geeks hahaha.
