Quotewiredallnight Why should I buy vinyl records in mono? It's like buying a VHS cassette in black & white. Stereo for consumer use was first introduced in 1958. In the late 1950s and in the 1960s most LPs were usually released in separate mono and stereo versions. Singles were always in mono up until the late 1960s. In the late 1950s stereo LPs had a market share of well under 20% in

QuoteIrix QuoteMrEcho The extension of the protection from 50 to 70 years does not have anything to do with date of fixation (= recording) that defines recordings that are protected. That's not what I wrote about. I wrote about your stated 1963 date and the in the (German) copyright law written 1st November 2013. I think we both talk about the same thing. 1st November 2013 is the dat

QuoteIrix QuoteMrEcho But as far as I know all EU member states (following the lead of the countries with the most important markets for "phonograms", Germany and the UK) have agreed upon 1963 as the cut-off date. It's not explicitly 1963, but 1st November 2013, when the 50-years rule was changed to 70 years with the implementation of EU-Directive 2011/77 into national law. I

QuoteIrix QuoteMrEcho The date of 1963 was not defined via Directive 2011/77/EU, but via national legislature long before 2011. Interesting, but you wrote above: QuoteMrEcho According to Directive 2011/77/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 September 2011 the situation in regard to phonograms/recordings is as follows: Yes, but copyright laws in the EU are a com

QuoteIrix QuoteMrEcho The new European copyright law from 2011 protects recordings made in 1963 or later for 70 years But there's no explicit mention of 1963 in the EU copyright: . Quoteretired_dog QuoteDoxa So is the case then that the Star Club stuff from 1962 entered Public Domain in 2013 (UK, EU), since there never been any 'fully legal' release? (I don't know the latter, but I got the impression here that the Beatles never have done such when they got the rights). - Doxa Doxa, yes, as I already stated under point 3 of my longer post from January 4,

Quoterbk It's a fun show, worth the time and money spent if you don't take it too seriously. I saw them a few years ago without Perry who'd just had a heart attack. Alice plays Alice mostly strutting around with a fencing sword and Depp plays a rock star acting like he's playing guitar pretty convincingly. The set list is Classic Rock 101. Johnny Depp does not have to act like

QuoteGasLightStreet The Cult gave up the stardom that they had created, with momentum, in the mid to late 1980s with jangly rocking singles and playing arenas to playing theatres with dead end singles and heavy albums. After that they went back to being what they started out as - an artsy indie punk band only with heavy rock touches. After not duplicating their 1989 success of SONIC TEMPL

From the Steve Hoffman Forum: About 15 years ago I interviewed Mick Taylor and I asked him what he was most proud of in his career, his work with John Mayall, The Stones, or his solo work. He said none of them, the highpoint for him was the 1984 tour with Dylan! posted by voice with restraint, Today at 11:23 AM

I have seen shows all over Europe and in the US (Rolling Stones and other acts), but the worst-organized shows were the German shows. In some cases it seems like a miracle that no one got hurt. In most cases the problem was inadequate crowd control and lack of information outside of the venues before the shows. In several cases there were no barriers/wavebreakers outside of the entrances, people

Quotedcba Has anyone checked if "The Nature Of My Game" (the original one) and VGP-070 run at the same speed. If not, "The Nature Of My Game" is faulty and the VGP is the one to listen to. As far as I know they run at the same speed, but the VGP has distorted sound.

The Famous Blues Session and The Nature Of My Game Famous Blues Session has the treble boosted a little, Nature Of My Game has more bass. Of all the retrospective releases since 2009 this is my favorite. Rough and dirty Rock & Roll and blues, great setlist, small band, Ian Stewart still on piano, two great guests (Billy Preston and Ollie Brown). Fantastic. Bring on Paris 1976.

Quotemasseywinos That was awesome. Man I enjoyed that. Thought Keef was focused and into it. That brought me pure joy that's all I can say. Totally agree, same here. I was lucky enough to see Keith with the Winos in concert in 1992. Mastering too compressed, though. **** Exile –

QuoteHairball I prefer Sasha who understands her role in the band, and when it's time for her to showcase her skills during her Gimme Shelter solo, she does it in a classy tasteful and respectful way sounding like Merry Clyaton. Lisa on the other hand always seemed to want to be in the spotlight...her operatic solo during Gimme Shelter was extremely over-the-top and circus-like sounding
