I don't know if it's common knowledge, at least it was knew to me that the song "Memory Motel" was a place that actually existed. Just imagine Mick Jagger and Carly Simon having a one-night-stand in this place.... Makes me wonder how the rooms might have looked like Backstory: (...) The title comes from an actual motel in Montauk, on Long Island. The lyrics to

Quoteschwonek Quotelatvianinexile QuoteSomeTorontoGirl Just watched the (very brief) appearance of Ronnie with Jimmy Fallon. He mentioned them rehearsing yesterday… and the obvious question would have been ‘rehearsing for what?’. Nope. No follow up. Mysterious b*stard! Yep, Ronnie said they rehearsed Bite My Head Off. My bet is they perform Bite and Angry. Or Street Fighting Man or Gomper. ;

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteDeeGee No matter how hard I try, I just can't listen to the NB. It's way too messy. Too crappy.... I liked Ronnie's singing on HTW an Stanley Clarke's Slap bass. "Am I grooving You?" is a racy 3 or 4 minutes though.. But the rest? Oh boy.... Keith's Apartment #9 is a classic. And I loved the BTMMR with a triple intro. I s

I was watching "Under the influence" yesterday, for the second time since it came out in 2015. It was very funny listening to Keith talking about his thoughts of "retirement" back then.... Not sure if he'd believed you if you'd told him of HD back then - and Andy Watts etc.... While watching I realised that I am more than happy with what we are getting with &quo

QuoteBjorn Too bad Steve Jordan has to destroy the overall sound - on the first part of the last crescendo...cymbals and drums to the maximum...the speakers can hardly take it...everything on RED!!! But I can live with that - really nice piece of music, this. And I love the second unexpected "chord" in the "gospel-bridge"...that´s really cool and interesting. Let’s please st

Quotertr I really like so much about this that I hate to be the one to mention that they may need to give Otis Redding a co-writing credit (like with KD Lang and Anybody Seen My Baby)? Any thoughts? No. Not at all. Don’t get fooled by that 6 to 8 bar beat similarity. This is more like a pattern, style or a framework in which to work. But composition-wise and harmonically. It’s quite different

Quoteyeababyyea Quoteroller99 Exactly. I don’t consider Tattoo You to be an album of new material, a portion was leftovers from Some Girls. I can't get behind this way of thinking. All songwriters have unfinished songs in their backlog they are planning to use sometime in the future. Some Girls was released in 78 and Tattoo You in 81, with same logic if The Stones are using songs fr

Quoteslewan I can't help it – everything I heard from the new album so far (3 songs and 16 seconds) gives me the feeling that I don't/won't like the album I feel sorry for you. For me it's quite the opposite. I dig most of it, only Angry sounds a bit too "trashy" for my taste - soundwise. But that's only my personal taste.
