Wasn't this at the Brit Awards in 2000? I think the person that came on wasn't meant to be there, hence why security got him off the stage.

Rather than individual versions of songs as people have said here, I mostly prefer the live versions on a whole, great as the studio versions are. I listen to more live performances than studio versions of songs. That is one of the reasons I like the Stones, because they're such a strong live band.

Quotepmk251 What a nice week of music the band performed this week in '72! Did it feel energized as it reached the coast and headed for the home stretch? DC, Norfolk and Charlotte, nicely preserved on audience recordings. That's what I thought too, been listening to the shows that they did this week back then. Its a pity its so long ago.

I thought this too, can't believe its 20 years. This is one of my favorite RS shows. SW and UJ are my favorite "modern era" tours, and this show I think is one of the best. It has one of the best versions of "Start Me Up", and "Gimme Shelter" I think. I seem to remember someone on this forum mentioned this show took place in the rain, but there's no

I also think Brown Sugar.

Absolutely. Its about time, 3 years has passed since the last tour. Despite the ages they are I don't think they're too old to do it, its not like they're 80, I think they can still do it in their 60s. Also, I have never seen them.

For me Gazza, he has an encyclopedic knowledge of the band.

At least one version of Brown Sugar, usually Philadelphia 21/7/72 1st show. Also Gimme Shelter from Tokyo 26/2/90 and Wembley 7/7/90, the best ever versions of it in my opinion.

A look at Wikipedia shows 11/7/82 is one, that was the final in the 82 tournament, when the band were in Turin. Don't know if the match was on at the same time as the concert though.

I seem to remember reading something about a sign which read Mick Jagger & The Rolling Stones outside an arena on the US tour in 78 and Keith wasn't impressed. Unfortunately, I think it was in "Old Gods" which I read it, which would mean that it would be pretty likely to not be true.

The versions of it on the bootlegs of the Voodoo Lounge sessions I think sound better then the released version.

I would say yes, but a good quality CDR I would assume will last far longer than a cheap one, so I would say the B2B CDRs you describe must be good. When I have burned bootlegs I have found brands such as Fujifilm are still fine after a couple of years, but a cheap CDR of The Brussels Affair I burned at the same time now hardly works.

Sad news, although I don't know much about them, I have a few of their CDs from several years back. I also remember them regularly on British TV in the early 00s.

I think this was one of the best "modern era" shows that they have done.

I never thought anything of it when he said it. I just thought it was a joke, I never gave it a thought the others could be offended by it.

Not a released song, but the solo on "I Don't Know Why", I think from the Trident mixes.

I think it would be good from them to do it, though the only "country" song of theirs I like is Dead Flowers, which I would consider to be my 2nd favorite RS song after Brown Sugar. I didn't listen to it for years though, it wasn't until last year that I did.

Quotecrumbling_miceSomething has bothered me for a while though, and I don't know whether anyone else has noticed this; sometime around the mid 80's maybe his facial expression changed - his eye, seemed to dropp on one side as did his mouth - all the symptoms of a mild stroke...I just wondered if he had indeed suffered a mild stroke or it's just me reading too much into things. I

Quotealimente QuoteJah Paul Who says Bill has to be there in person?? He can join in via satellite link-up on the big video screens! He can do the whole tour from the comfort of his living room. We're in the 21st Century, folks. It could happen. No, it cant be done. Theres a small microsecond/millisecond timeshift/delay caused by the satellite transfer which means that Bill could bot

QuoteKet Taylor is a physical wreck and Wyman won't get on a plane, =Not a chance in hell Thats a good point. I forgot Wyman was afraid of flying. I just couldn't see him doing it, and he is far older than the rest, making him less likely to do it. I know with the Exile release and everything I've said "anything is possible" but this is stretching it a bit.

Quoterooster Can you believe that!! The Stones in daylight on a saturday afternoon!!! Is this the show that is partially filmed? I have seen it on Youtube before, but it ends at Tumbling Dice (I think). Like you say, I think its pretty good to have them play in the day. I couldn't see them doing that now.

Steel Wheels followed by a Bigger Bang. I don't particularly care for Bridges or Voodoo Lounge, though the VL tapes that were bootlegged offer a great insight into what goes on in the studio. Its a pity "Hold On To Your Hat" from Steel Wheels was never done onstage, it would have made a great live track. I think its mentioned in Bill Germans book they planned to do it onstage on

QuoteStonesTod Quoteurbanjungle90 I think it would be great if they could do another signature song. In my opinion the last one was Start Me Up, and that's nearly 30 years ago. That might sound a bit silly, but we didn't see Exile coming, so I think anything is possible. it's splitting hairs, maybe - but start me up goes back well OVER 30 years. and i'm not sure what
