The American spelling is usually just simpler - if I were nasty, I'd say: Conforming to their IQ ... For us Germans the US spelling is actually easier to learn - more similarity to the original "Germanic" that was the ancestor of Dutch, English, German ... Since I grew up in the French Occupied Zone, I learned French before English and at first wondered why the English spe

Which CGF did you see, 2013 in MSG ? All these people (Tedeschi, Trucks, Wilkenfeld) were participants also in 2010 (and some in 2007). A fantastic series - maybe we'll see a CGF 2016 ...

Buddy made a lasting impression on me as a teenager - I used to listen to his songs on Radio Luxemburg (English program in the evenings , AM, very low quality) and on my mono tape recorder on which I had a few songs copied from friends - couldn't afford to buy too many records ... I was 16 when the news about Buddy and Richie Valens came on the radio ... Then I bought a "loop ta

I've been a fan of Steve for almost 50 years (I'm older than he ...) and his "resurrection" after 2000 was great. Saw him several times in the last years in smaller venues in Germany and England and then the openair conceert with Eric Clapton in Munich - unbelievably good! They played almost better than 40 years ago! There is a DVD of their concerts in NYC: Maison

Louis' house in Queens has been turned into a small museum - really wonderful. We were there three years ago and got a guided tour - very intimate because only another couple was with us and the very knowledgable guide. Sorry that this info is too late for all the concert goers - but if anyone here visits NYC, this museum is a must!

Wiki says: QuoteThe chemtrail conspiracy theory holds that some trails left by aircraft are actually chemical or biological agents deliberately sprayed at high altitudes for purposes undisclosed to the general public in clandestine programs directed by various government officials.[1] I call these things "constipation theories" ... In Germany these were really in vogue a few y

It seems some fans in Germany wanted to get to the Paris concert really badly. When they couldn't get tickets to a flight from Bremen to Paris they just sneaked by security ... When they got caught on the tarmac they said they wanted to buy tickets from the pilot ... The whole story (in German): Flight to Paris

It would be really a shame if the Stones would be remembered as "The band that screwed their fans with their last concerts" and sold out to the filthy rich ... I'm still hoping that they'll do a tour next year with resonable prices - if not, then that's the way they'll go down in history.

Imho it has always been clear that they could sell these shows at whatever price they ask - well, maybe not at 10 000 $, but still ... So these shows are not for the fans but for the "Filthy Rich" who can easily afford them - and maybe brag about it. So the really interesting question is: Will they tour next year - for their fans and at reasonable prices ? And (as I'

When I read here that the Stones would do concerts my first idea was: Wouldn't it be nice if they did a free concert in Hyde Park and in Central Park - they'd probably make enough money from selling the videos ... But then I woke up and realised I'd be very disappointed by the announcements. So for me it's: Good bye, Rolling Stones - I won't spend any more mon

In the 60s I bought all the Stones albums on vinyl (was born in 1943 ...) and played them all day long (of course copied them to tape first ...). But what they have become now - I think it's a real shame, they just don't care for the fans that have been with them for so long and helped them become great and famous. I'd rather spend that money on smaller unknown bands than p

Since I can't get SNL here in Hungary, yesterday we watched this Arte documentary on "The British Blues Explosion" - early 60s with a manic MJ prancing on stage while thousands of hysterical girls went screaming their lungs out ... It was really nice, though much too short, brought fond memories of those crazy years. I was several times in London in the second half of the 60s

I read somewhere that prior to a tour of China the Stones had to promise that they wouldn't play this "lewd" song ... It seems the Chinese were afraid that teenagers would take this as an invitation to making babies after the concerts ... But I'm not sure whether that was a kind of hoax. Anyone here know more about this ?

Yes, Havel's family was rich and burgeois - that's why they were expropriated by the communists and he was not allowed to go to university ... Something similar happened to my my wife's family in Hungary (on a smaller scale ...): Her father had a bakery and was also expropriated in the 1940s and she also was not allowed to study - got a job at the mayor's office (becau

Didn't you know that Led Zeppelin are devil worshippers and: QuoteAccording to Stephen Davis, author of the Zeppelin saga, Hammer of the Gods, the controversy began in 1982, when a prominent Baptist used his radio pulpit to preach that "Stairway to Heaven" carried subliminal backward messages. Then, in April 1982, the California State Assembly played a backward tape of the song
