Hi, im playing guitar now for 20 years but i have no idea what u are talking about. There is no thing in a guitar that makes a wah wah sound. Only thing that comes to my mind is the B-Bender that some Telecasters are equipped with. But its not a wah wah, its like a tremolo bar that is attached to the strap pin. You pull the guitar body down to make it work.

Well quality started to go down in the early 80s but in the second half of the 80s it became really bad. But you have to keep in mind that even during this period a few really great guitars were produced by Gibson. Just the average level of quality went down a lot.
