I have quite a bit of clips I can share, just give me a day or two to round it all up. If the Boston coverage you have is video, could you share that? Also, are you sure the 'Toronto' footage is actually from Toronto, and not Montreal? The CBC had some news coverage of the Toronto show but their archives list it as missing. The National Film Board of Canada shot a bit of Montreal fo

QuoteTravelinMan Nicky Hopkins might have taken that second photo of the band. He was big into photography. The band shot is by Annie Lebovitz so I imagine the second one is too, but I didn't know that about Nicky.

This was a major pain, mostly because the footage was slowed down and totally out of order in the original YouTube videos, but I did my best to sync everything - not too happy with 'Midnight Rambler' but better than nothing. The film is the circulating 8mm footage shot by Alan Pariser: I also used Brown Sugar from this alternate 16mm source: (for those of you who don'

Quoteglimmerman Thanks! While we're on the topic, may I PLEASE have a posed photo of the 1972 stage band? I've been very patient. Jim Price is missing but otherwise this one from the Burbank rehearsals seems to be as good as it gets for this request:

QuoteRank Stranger Thank you! Interestingly enough the song titles "Stop Breaking Down" and "Loving Cup" are not listed on Nico Zentgraf's site... Those have nothing to do with the clips, they're just part of the montages during the episodes.

Quotedcba This snippet means that Jagger had all the 16mm material shot by Frank in 72 (and there's a lot of it!) preserved in the Vault and digitized (for future use?). A lot of it was used in Crossfire Hurricane, and some other stuff, like the Exile cover shoot, is in this Apple series as well. QuoteMathijs This is just bloody amazing! I had a discussion with a 1972 tour conno

I just uploaded this to my YouTube channel and thought I'd share a download link here for anyone interested. These clips were featured in Episode 2 and 6 of the Apple TV series '1971: The Year Music Changed Everything'. Looks like it was shot by Robert Frank. There wasn't any native audio so I added one of the Dallas jams:

QuoteTaylor1 Does anyone know definitely which guitar Brian plays. And isn't there maracas and what sounds like a mellotron blues harp that he might have played. JJFlash would have sounded better if there were more separation between the instruments I think it's easy to just assume that the two guitars are both Keith, as it fits his usual methods and the com

Quotejbwelda Wasnt that line about echo from Oakland? Or did it make it onto Live'r than You'll Ever Be without actually being from Oakland? My understanding was those Ampegs were not up to the rigors of the road and gave nothing but trouble. They used them because they were given them in a sponsorship deal I think. Don't think it lasted too long though, much like the equipmen

Quotedcba Keith's guitar tone is... heavy! Bill must felt that someone was punching him in the back every time Keef hit a chord. Btw was it the Ampeg amps he used in 69? Yes, prototype Ampeg SVTs, although there's a curious line just before Gimme Shelter at the LA show where Mick says "he's got an echo on there, let's do it with echo". I always assumed he meant

I'm working on syncing audio to the circulating silent footage of the 07-26-72 show, but just wanted to make sure I have the best version of the audience source/partial soundboard. My current source is Disc 6 of the 'Work Sucks, Let's Go on Tour' comp, but I'm not sure if that's been superseded. Any help would be appreciated!

Quotejbwelda That film was pretty amazing, reminds me of seeing the outfit at the Women's Gym of Sac State college right about that time. Don't recall exactly but must have been late 67 or early 68. What a show in such a tight little place, sounded all distorted just like that film, mostly echo from the hard surfaces of a basketball court gymnasium. jb Feb 8, 1968:

QuoteJMARKO Quoteyearsinthemaking Interesting to add to the discussion I believe this is @#$%& Blues footage with dubbed in audio of All Down The Line I found it in an Atlantic Records documentary with the studio version on top, but I assume it was probably shot by Robert Frank. After seeing Episode 2, my first guess regarding the footage is that the shots of the whole band playing in the studio is from the Dallas rehearsals, and the shot of Mick playing 'Stop Breaking Down' is at the house they were renting in LA just prior to the start of the 72 tour - if you watch CS Blues and look at the scene where Mick and Keith are being interviewed, it looks like the sa

I don't have any idea of its origins before appearing on Dailymotion, but based on some of the other films on the channel, I have a feeling that this film was either purchased or loaned from the original taper and taken to a third-party company for a proper digital scan, which would account for the numbering system on the bottom - I've had 16mm films done like that before and the qualit

I'm the one who uploaded this and did the audio sync - I found the clip on Dailymotion uploaded 4 years ago: It's definitely not something done by Bill Graham, as my understanding is that he stuck to videotape when recording shows. Furthermore, as far as I know any Stones-related video he may have recorded was lost in the 1980s fire that claimed a large part of his collection.
