Bridges To Babylon A Bigger Bang Voodoo Lounge Steel Wheels Hackney Diamonds Dirty Work I liked Hackney Diamonds the first few weeks but the songs grew old pretty fast. With Bridges and Bigger Bang I still feel a lot of excitement everytime.

Mick is superb on Wiltern Stray Cat Blues, but Keith kind of ruins it with his terrible playing. The Stockholm version was a bit of trainwreck. I guess the Olympia version is the best one from 2003.

Overdubs or not, you can clearly hear the pitch correction on Mick's vocals. I think it makes this performance sound a lot better than the youtube vids.

Dagens Nyheter (Swedish newspaper) : 2/5 No rock'n'rollator in the world can help the Rolling Stones groove forward "Hackney diamonds" could have been a last reminder of what once made The Rolling Stones the world's best band. Instead, producer Andrew Watt has gotten away with the cleaning agent and sterilized the entire soundscape, writes Mattias Dahlström.

Mess It Up is awesome, so great to hear Charlie in fine form. Wish he was playing on all songs. Live By The Sword has that classic Charlie/Bill swing, would've fitted perfectly on Steel Wheels instead of Break The Spell. Whole Wide World is maybe a bit too radio friendly for my taste.

A Bigger Bang is criminally underrated. I'm sure it will get a revival the next 30 years. As a younger fan who was 8 years old when it came out, I listened to it like a madman growing up and love almost every song. If Hackney Diamonds comes anywhere close I will be very happy.

Quotepowerage78 As rightly pointed out here, the Stones' fan base is aging and hasn't really renewed itself. True, just compare the Rolling Stones and Beatles forums on Reddit, where a lot of younger fans hang out: The Beatles, 194.000 members. The Rolling Stones, 17.600 members.

QuoteRip This I don't understand people using the term "posh" to subscribe some kind of negative element....they are RICH...very rich men of wealth and tatse...to the tune of $500 M so I'm really not sure what point your trying to make.... Posh when talking about songwriting, is more referring to musically complex or pretentious. It has nothing to do with how wealthy the per

Quoteroller99 Exactly. I don’t consider Tattoo You to be an album of new material, a portion was leftovers from Some Girls. I can't get behind this way of thinking. All songwriters have unfinished songs in their backlog they are planning to use sometime in the future. Some Girls was released in 78 and Tattoo You in 81, with same logic if The Stones are using songs from 2020 sessions

I like both songs better than Angry. Sounds like a mixture between later day Stones and Goddess In The Doorway. The verse of "Get Close" reminds me of the pre-chorus of "Too Far Gone". Will be interesting to see if the tracks written without Watt has a different feel to them.

Angry is very reliant on Jagger's expressive vocal melody line. If you take away his vocals the music itself is a bit bland. Ghost Town has a nice sophisticated groove thanks to Charlie and Darryl, and a more interesting melody too. Would've loved to hear Charlie play Ghost Town live in concert!

This was interesting to research, this is the top-10 least played I found with some quick research (not counting live versions, instrumentals or alternative versions). I probably have missed several songs. 1. Losin' My Touch (Forty Licks) 141,691 2. Keys To Your Love (Forty Licks) 154,164 3. Stealing My Heart (Forty Licks) 190,910 4. Fast Talking, Slow Walking (Tattoo You Deluxe) 228,

It's nice to get a new single. Do I think this song would've made it onto A Bigger Bang? Probably not, would likely have been thrown in the dumpster. Just had to relisten to Rough Justice, can't get enough of the wonderful swing and groove of Charlie, what a great tight rock song.

Poor version, not only because of Sheeran, everything just sounds so tame. Ronnie's solo is pretty decent, everyone else is much better on other latter day versions like Live Licks.

QuoteThe Joker So I did try a sort of quizz for the Stones’ songs It seems the verses starting the beat 1 are quite rare , and belong to the first area of their songwriting. Here what I found (Surely, there are some others) ¬ Get Off My Cloud (on 1st) - Have you had another, baby, standing in the shadow? (on 1st) - Sympathy For The Devil (on 1st) Have You Seen Your Mother Baby st

They have many great songs which would fall a bit flat live, but I think these would've been great in concert: 1. Summer Romance 2. Pretty Beat Up (Ronnie's live version is great) 3. Fancy Man Blues

QuoteStonedRambler QuoteBOBM In my opinion GRRR has one of the best sound mixes of the many "recent" live releases. In particular, Mick's voice is highly prominent, and it turns out his vocals are remarkable. In other recent live material it seemed like he was losing his voice capabilities and in some cases just going through the motions with minimal effort, but on the GRR track

QuoteCongratulations No disrespects to Charlie, but I believe they have more chance of pulling it off with Steve Jordan than they would've with CW in recent years. Those live versions of '19th Nervous Breakdown' from last year have more energy than the versions from the Voodoo Lounge era! They didn't play 19th Nervous Breakdown on the VL-tour. The BTB-tour versions were good

Great, thank you! Now we have Crystal Cat releases from half of the Swedish shows since 1995, these are missing: Gothenburg 1998 (a few bonus tracks were included on Stockholm '98 release) Stockholm #1 2003 Stockholm #2 2003 Gothenburg 2007 Stockholm 2014 If the above mentioned shows were recorded by Crystal Cat I hope they will be released someday.

I'm not spending 30 euros on a pay per view I already purchased 10 years ago and have on DVD-r in excellent quality. Haven't bought any of their releases at retail price since San Jose '99, but somehow I always find them for 4 euros at my local flea market a couple of years after release date so that's when I pick them up.

The trailer doesn't sound so bad I think, maybe Mick shouldn't be so upfront in the mix. Original PPV mix was a bit flat and lacked punch.

QuoteGerardHennessy Nothing ignited. Nothing soared. Nothing lifted me up and made me want to cry out with delight. All these things HAVE happened for me on several occasions over the years. But NOT anytime in the past ten years certainly. Maybe even longer. Agreed, I also feel this way when they play some of the songs nowadays. To me this is the sound of a band going through the motions...

Gimme Shelter is by no means an essential song in the setlist. They didn't play it for most of the Voodoo Lounge and Bigger Bang tours and no one cared! Especially nowadays with Keith's tentative intro and Mick's restrained singing with the overdone female vocals on top I just can't stand it. Wished they stopped playing it.
